This is basically the same cognac (except the slightly lesser designation and vintage). Seems like the same price that I paid on clearance as fine Drams charges currently.
My original post was inquiring why this bottling might be more expensive in general than older bottlings.
Maybe this particular bottling is just overpriced in their lineup, but there must be a reason they are charging it.
It seems like the normal price must be around $130-140 here which is inflated to Fine Drams, but I paid $89.
I was just going to post that. I got the 32 year l’encantada, plus the 4.0, and the rum finished encantada bottling. The 4.0 just came out, so I haven’t had it yet.
For anyone that didn’t see, 15% off all Brandy at Astor.
I bought some 79 and 98 Laberdolive this spring at attractive prices even after accounting for shipping/customs to US from Idealwine. Good purchasing experience.
Just checking in on some previous recommendations.
I really like the Delord 25 Armagnac and the Pasquet Berserkers 85 Cognac. The Delord seems like very good value.
The L’Encantada 3.0 Armagnac was pretty vile IMO. Slightly better cut with water but would not buy again. Bourbon of brandies, and not very good Boutbon.
At the lower end I’m really liking Ferrand Ambre. I love their Selection des Anges as well (though much more expensive). Both are on the vinous end of Cognac.
I received a bottle of Delord 25 for Christmas from the wife, and am really enjoying it. Look forward to diving into this spirit a bit more. I guess I should say “getting into the spirit”
Thanks for this thread. I picked up a Normandin Mercier 7 locally today. Really nice entry point. They have the 15 as well so I’ll probably go back and grab one.
