I sense lots of love for W&M. Can anyone describe the style or “similar to” wines?
Not sure that I can give you some ‘similar’ wines, but @Brian_Tuite did an outstanding job putting this together a few months ago.
I did hint at something like that and eventually I’ll get to it, but seeing as how I never even managed to send out a reminder/last call for the 23’s, I’m not sure I’m ready to dig around on a pallet quite yet!
I could write a small book (novella?) on what I learned from the RM library release. There were things I knew would happen and wasn’t sure how to avoid. There were things I never saw coming or hadn’t considered. I appreciate the support and understanding, if we ever do it again, there will be tweaks/changes.
Yeah the problem I ran into was The 4 bottle minimum and I could only get 3 bottles in my cart. No worries.i have plenty
This reminds me that I have yet to place my order for W&M 2023!
Need to get that done today.
good for you that they are still available. Love the Shifflet Cab!
I had the same issue as well. Had to wait it out for 30 minutes or so and eventually got to 4.
So will there be a last call for the ‘23s or some kind of library release?
Anyone open any yet?
not i. Will be a bit
@William_Segui hadnt see anything about ‘24 release, wanted to make sure I didnt miss it. Do you have an anticipated date?
His releases are usually the third week of September.
I opened a 2022 Shifflett last night in anticipation of an upcoming release so I too am curious when the release will be. Couple of years ago releases started in the summer but keep getting rolled back over the last few years. My order for the 2021 vintage was placed on 29 Jun 2023, 2022 vintage was placed 4 Jul 2024, and 2023 vintage was placed on 2 Sep 2025. Going back a ways I placed an order for the 2016 vintage on 1 Oct 2018. Guessing Will is going back to a fall release again which works well for me with all the other stuff rolling out right now.
‘21 and ‘22 I’m sure he released early due to the lack of ‘20 and subsequently needing to get some cashflow. Other than those two his initial ‘14 release was in June and everything else late September with one October and one November.
Just went to bottle on Thursday (8/27) and with harvest being small/short/early, it may push into early October. But as always, the ever shrinking number on the banking app ultimately decides.
2024’s remind me a bit of the 2014’s, saturated colors with fine tannin and A+ aromatics.
I’m planning on opening a magnum of the 2017 Cabernet for my birthday in two weeks. What kind of advice do you have on decanting that, Will?
Thanks.
William and Mary and Piper are on my must have list. I admit to a momentary tightening of several sphincters
when I see posts appear on the thread, thinking I must have missed a release.

Pour off the first 10 ounces or so into two stems of mine, then let the rest of it breathe for a couple hours in the partially full bottle and serve.
But ain’t that 39.430621% of the bottle??
Wine and math don’t mix.
