Yeah Ive been cutting back pinot purchases for a few years but this one gonna be tough to stay to a case

In a similar boat…went fairly deep (25-30 cases) on 16/17/18/19 Oregon/Cal Pinot. Have since really cut back with the exception of select Oregon producers. Just don’t have space to add more California based Pinot. Also, some of these wines are now reaching the initial opening period. Plenty of Pinot for years.

Excited to see the detailed notes. I am interested in hearing more how '23 compares to '21 (which was excellent across the board for Sonoma PN).

Just a few weeks ago i had a 2021 Sonoma Coast and thought damn this is just so damn good.

I’ve heard great things about 2023 NorCal but almost entirely relating to Cab. Does anyone know if it was similarly good for Sonoma Pinot?

I don’t buy nearly as many CA wines as I used to, but I find it hard to imagine dropping off this list.

I asked everyone we tasted with in August and the general theme was that Sonoma producers were maybe equally as excited but less vocal/more reserved about it than the Napa/cab producers

I have lot of RM pinot, but ā€˜23 isnt the vintage I’m going to cut back

Yeah, I loaded up between 2013 and 2018. Then I cut off pretty much everyone except for Rivers Marie and only bought a few bottles Each vintage to stay on the list. The timing is good to add a case to plan for drinking in the 2030s. I’ve got the 2020s covered.

First time buying (thinking of buying 6 bottles) any one have any recommendations on how to split across given all the different offerings?

Buy no less than the full allocation of the Sonoma Coast cuvee.

I’ll be at dinner with a producer tonight, I’ll ask.

Any idea what the prices will be on the various releases? Trying to ā€œbudgetā€ LOL.

Sonoma Coast was $35 last release. The single vineyards if memory serves correct are mostly in the $65 to $90 range

Usually get allocated 3 of the SC and should take those. Then Id try 3 different single vineyards from Sonoma County

This is what I always do. I tend to go with Platt, Summa OV, and B Thieriot, but sometimes I’ll throw a Bearwallow or Joy Rd in there. Do the same with the Chard release in Feb and you’ve got a full case ready to ship!

going to have to be a small order, but hard to pass. I’ve been a buyer since the very beginning - and have yet to be disappointed in a single bottle - ever.

I was planning to drop this starting this year (I like the wines but we don’t go through them very fast and I have enough) but I think you guys are convincing me to stick it out for one more release…

Always a buy for me.

I took the full allocation last year and popped open 1 of each since I was new to RM Pinots. Joy Road, Silver Eagle, B. Thieriot, Occidental, and Summa Old were my favorite. Others were just Ok.
