2023 Rivers Marie Pinot release

Also trying to trim list buying but will probably take a half case. Some combo of Summa, Summa OV, B Thieriot, SC.

was thinking of cutting back, but the '23 vintage is the wrong one to miss

Any notes?

I havenā€™t ordered from them in a long timeā€¦out of curiosity, the last thing I ordered was 2011(!) cabs. Not sure why I stopped, but I always liked their juice.

What are prices like these days?

See above, but $35 for SC Pinot is probably the best value in all of CA for PN.

At dinner last night with @Steve_Nordhoff who has tasted a few of the 2023 RM Pinot and his own Riverain made by TRB. Steve thinks itā€™s his best Pinot vintage yet.

Canā€™t quote TRB because he wasnā€™t at dinner but Steve said everyone is very excited about 2023 Pinot like 2019.

Iā€™m piggybacking off a few friends on the RM list and getting a sampler.

The question now is how awesome will Platt be? Super awesome or superduper awesome? Special place.

Trivia: @Fred_Scherrer planted Platt for Lou Platt

I actually think it was planted by Daniel Roberts with the intention of Fred, Ted Lemon and David Ramey making wine from it. Also, Iā€™m sure youā€™re probably already aware, but Platt fans should be signing up for this mailing list: Platt Vineyard
Iā€™ve tasted through the wines twice, once after they went to barrel, and once out of tank before bottling, and the quality is through the roof.

The RM offer includes a 2023 Platt Pinot Noir, but the Platt Vineyard web site you linked claims ā€œHaving acquired Platt in 2022, we were able for the first time in 2023 to vinify all of Plattā€™s production under our own name.ā€ Iā€™m not sure what to make of that ā€¦

It sounds like the marketing staff isnā€™t talking to the vineyard management

TRB is getting fruit from Platt which is owned by AXA. They know each other as TRB has remained with Outpost as the consulting winemaker after AXA purchased the winery in 2018.

Same here.

23 Pinots from RM are superb.

How much time do people typically give these wines before opening?

Iā€™ve drunk many RM over the years across the entire range. From ā€œlook what UPS dropped off todayā€ to friends pulling mid 2000ā€™s with 10+ years.

Theyā€™re all delicious. With the wines Iā€™ve tasted, typically, the AVA wines are drunk earlier and stuff like Old Vine Summa become even more special with some age. But I have a friend Paul and heā€™s fearless, everything is fair game. LOL

Excited for both the 23 RM Pinots AND the Riverain Silver Eagle Pinot. The latter may have been my favorite I tasted last year.

Iā€™m looking forward to this as well. Dropped a number years ago when the kids started college, but had a 2022 Silver Eagle at a restaurant a couple of months back and spurred me to get back on the list.

Maybe Will has some notes on the release

He always seems to post them here once we get closer

After I get them and look them over, I put them up here. And this release will be no different.

23 was a special vintage in Napa & Sonoma. I look forward to everyone getting to see what we did.

Anyone know if this offering will this be just Pinots or will the 23 Chardonnays also be offered?

I believe it is just pinots for this release. Chards usually get released about a month after the pinots
