2012 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne

Is this common/do people regularly do this? (Sounds logistically complicated, but maybe just because I’ve never done it)

Can’t really say. I do know if you store with Domaine at any of their locations, they make it even easier to get it to your final destination, so probably those people do more than others. But they are not cheap for storage or transportation which eats into your savings. I’ve only used them once and only from France. Brexit has made it almost impossible to ship EU goods through UK so now you have to go through France and CID only ships out of UK.

That Envoyer price seems high considering what Millesima is charging for a bottle that includes V.A.T. and duty. Envoyer usual has very good prices, as well as WHWC, because they are importing it directly.

Unless they really underperformed DP and Cristal this vintage, it is tough to justify why they should trade at a discount anymore. I used to consider them the best value tête de cuvée, but that really ended with ‘08. IMO that title now belongs to the other CdC that is made by Vilmart.

Btw, ‘11 is now trading for less than $110 US in London.

It’s probably a bit high but I like having a case of two of stateside bottles. I got a bit in Europe and Asia as well but not quite at 125/btl.

I don’t know if that’s really changed. That’s basically what I paid on first release.

I believe the release price was 535 GBP/6, but the current price has moved up to 600 GBP. Given the strength in the dollar the price has dropped from $120/btl to $110. Could be a decent speculative buy at this price, but I have been backfilling with things that I want to drink.

Yeah £89 basically. Now that’s closer to $100 but not at that time.

Where would you buy it? They need to cut 30% for me to even try it.

I bought a case. You never know how these things develop over time into something more enjoyable. I’ll buy a case of almost any vintage if it’s a wine I like.

That’s certainly true…could evolve into something fantastic down the road!

Just saw this:

TWC $230 offer just now too matching Envoyer. Guessing that will be the floor price.

Got an offer for the 2014 Cristal for $275 from another vendor advertised as super unbeatable price, but paid $220 for the 2012 and 2013, so probably passing.

Unfortunately, it appears the $230 may be the floor.

I do like the '14 Cristal and the $275 is pretty close to the UK release price. Based on today’s fx, the Cristal is now $240 in the UK.

Wine Club offer today also at $230

95+ from WK, although he said it reminded him of the 2002.
96 from Galloni.

Both had a one point uptick for the 2009 rose.

Thank you @William_Kelley for leaning conservative on the rating and doing our pocketbooks a favor. 98+ and the price would have jumped to $350.

too bad WK is above bribing—give it a 52 and let’s load up. Kind of like the original Parker 1993 burgs, 67 for Cote de Beaune and 73 for Cote de Nuits.

Damn, I really like the ‘02. Looks like I am going to have to buy the ‘12.

€144 at duty free at CDG.

Now that is more like it. Seems to be a usually large spread between DF and US non-Kobrand channel offers.
