2012 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne

Envoyer offered the '09 at $260 just a month ago. I’m starting to wonder if that was prep for the '12 at $300.

Do you mean the '08 at $260? They did not release an '09. Millesima UK is offering the '12 now at the equivalent of $179 US, including VAT and DP, whereas '08 is over $250 in the UK. WHWC is offering the '11 at $160 now, so I am hopeful we are looking at $200-ish max for '12.

Btw Jancis rated the '12 an 18.5 which is the same she gave the '04. She rated '08 a 19 and the '06 an 18.

I guess it is fair to call this a unicorn?

I don’t remember a correction email but in looking at their site they have some '04 available at that same price. Must have been a typo.

Not from what I’ve seen of either company’s big house offerings lately. I’m betting at least a couple other places offer better prices. Especially when factoring for coupons/discounts etc. And maybe some that still don’t charge sales tax which could also flip it in their favor for most of us.

Curious to see where this goes though. Good thread. I’m a big fan of 2012 across the board so I’ll have to nab a least a couple if they’re 200 or under. Though I’m not as infatuated with CdC as some are.

Will definitely be interesting to see where they price it. I noticed today that WHWC is offering '09 Comtes rose for $245. The is the first time I have seen this offered. I also saw this today from Fine & Rare which would confirm a UK release date of 11/4 for the "12 BdB:

Why is that a good deal when Millesima is preselling it all over Europe for $125?

I don’t think it’s a particularly great deal but I like having some wine stateside. I got some cheaper from other sources but it wasn’t quite 125. Millesima lists at like 185 now for me btw.

[/quote]that includes VAT and DP, 190€.

How much is that delivered to the US though?

Should be tasting it this week!

Well, I’m in Vienna and it shows 210 euros.

What are you doing to get that low price. Any particular country settings? Logged in?

You have to email them to purchase in bond. The listed price includes VAT. The in bond price is £750ish.

I will pay an extra $10/b to my door on a pallet. If you only had a case, you could use Domaine who would charge you around $8/b to NYC and then you could use FedEx to ship the rest of the way, so under $15/b.
