Thanks Paul. I too find the specific vintage threads helpful. The threads with 2000+ posts are cumbersome to navigate through.
I have limited experience with 2012. I have opened two bottles of Dujac MSD 1er over the last couple years and found them both not very giving. That has informed my view on the vintage and I will hold off opening others for at least 3-5 years. I have been trying to stick to 06, 07, 08, 13, 14 and 17 for vintages over the last 20 years. A few recent 16s have been nice as well!
'12 was a difficult vintage chez Dujac so that’s not the most representative. I would not extrapolate that one experience onto the vintage as a whole in any way.
Is there any way to delete ‘en masse’ all of the 40+ bullshit postings on this thread from earlier about whether this thread is even “OK” or not, and make the thread about 2012 red burgs? God bless in advance all who help to do that.
Is this a call for censorship? How woke of you!
If you think you should have the freedom to use offensive racial slurs [SEE RIESLING THREAD], other people should have the freedom to call this thread a stupid waste of space.
This isn’t eBob brother.
And before A CERTAIN SOMEONE decides to derail this thread with his crazy screeds, I am going to get us all back on track with this lovely 2012 tasting note:
- 2012 Louis Jadot Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots Domaine Gagey - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (8/17/2025)
Beautifully floral nose, right now the palate, for me, is quite given and silky. Tannins still have some grip and bite, but they are approaching a nice place. There's a slight touch of charcoal on the finish. The wine is quite dark fruited, and it reminds me of more Nuits than Vosne.

God bless your heart, good sir.
2012 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot - Somewhat restrained nose shows smoky black and red berry fruit, a meaty savory edge, and hint of earth, rose, and oak. The palate shows fairly solid integration, and gives a fruit profile that is on the darker side of the berry/cherry spectrum despite lacking much sweetness, which transitions into a finish with a savory sage and light oak tinged edge which adds a little complexity. Meaty but a bit austere. Overall it’s a solid wine but not particularly arresting or interesting. Just solid, and a nice pairing with roast duck with port wine demi. 92ish for me.

Sarah! Quit being so reasonable and thoughtful! That’s not in the spirit of the board.
I took several 2012s to my friend’s big annual xmas dinner last month. Sorry, I don’t write detailed notes, just notes to inform me. That said:
Gouges Chaignots - Really lovely and enjoyed by all.
M-G Chaignors - Pretty good although not as attractive as the Gouges just before it. No rush on last bottle.
Bachelet Corbeaux - Showed well, although in touugh company
And a bonus 2012 pinot:
Rhys Alpine - Showed really well and the fave of several.
Had a bottle of Arnoux Lachaux Reignots 2012 not too long ago - it was smoking. Happy to have a bottle more.
Also happy with a bottle of Mugneret Gibourg NSG Chaignots 2012.
not tried, but have holdings of Ponsot, Groffier and Vogue in 2012.
Being a Bordeaux guy, the only 2012 Burgundy I have is a Maison Ilan Chambertin, I’m not too excited to open it.
We had a 2011 Mazoyeres over the summer which we were astonished to find was really lovely
My 2 recent 2012 experiences needed a lot more time
Anyone know anything about the Gouge Les St George NsG?
Not the LSG but I had the Vaucrains twice in the past 6 months and I find it a bit lean, underdeveloped, so I think it needs more time.
