Your favourite Napa Cabs under $100 (talley added at end!)

I didn’t find the 07 near as ripe as others have reported. And nowhere near as ripe as the 04 Wight. YMMV

The one’s I buy under $100 are:

Dehlinger
Scherrer
Myriad
Rivers-Marie
Outpost
Ridge Santa Cruz Mt.

Finally, possibly the world’s finest cab under $100 is Ridge Monte Bello, which is available for $85 on a futures basis.

Some very interesting recommendations! Karl Lawrence and Rivers Marie are definitely board favourites. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks,
Rick

Hoopes

Wow. No mention of Switchback Ridge yet?

Tom

Outpost…both the regular bottling and the True Vyd. bottling.

Sojourn from this year hence. Holy Cabs, Batman! My new fave!

And I am newly anointed fan of the ACV Cabs.

I’ll be tasting about 80% of those next week on my pilgrimage out west. Sounds like I’ll be drinking really well!

The only CA Cab I buy regularly is Monte Bello, although I guess it doesn’t fit in this category, given it’s not from Napa.

I have several. Most have already been mentioned:

Ridge Monte Bello --my #1 choice, even though it is in the Santa Cruz Mountains and the futures price is $85.
Forman – #2 choice
Dunn Howell Mountain
Ladera
Larkmead Estate
Culler
Switchback
Robert Craig Howell Mountain & Mt. Veeder
Pride
Beringer Private Reserve
Anderson’s Conn Valley
Montelena Estate – current vintage is around $100, but you may be able to find the '92, '95 and '96 for around $100.
Rafanelli – based in Sonoma and primarily sold via mailing list and in restaurants.

Regarding Spottswoode, I have not seen a current vintage release south of $100 since the 2005 or 2006 vintage. The current release price is $136.

Thanks,
Ed

I also enjoyed Ladera, especially their Lone Canyon before it was sold to Harlan.

I’m shocked nobody is showing love for Faust

Ramey Annum
The Todd’s Reserve wine
Eric Keating’s new Napa Cab
EMH Black Cat

Umm that’s about it for reliable 92 points+ Cab in the 50-100$ range. Had far too much crap Napa Cab under $100 to count… much better pickings in Sonoma and Washington in that range. Probably Rivers Marie also, but I’m not on that list yet (had some at a Bfest that was awesome).

Jocelyn Lonen is a fantastic QPR at less than $30.

It is also a blend and not 100% (but mostly) Cab.
