I like that. My usual response nowadays goes something along the lines of “more than I’d care to admit to anyone else that doesn’t share my woes.”

You respond instinctively in minutes to an offer email because you simply must have THIS highly allocated wine.

Then you find yourself pleasantly relieved when you get a response that the wine you couldn’t live without has already been sold to others.

Also the dread of receiving a too good to pass up offer at the end of the month and wondering whether to take it and try to explain yourself to Maureen at the inventory reduction thread or to pass and be able to console yourself that you’ve been (somewhat) good for the month.

I’ll be looking forward to drinking a 90 YO Madeira on my 90th birthday, but I’m not sure what I’ll be doing with the other 90 cases of ready to drink wine in the cellar.

That is, if I work hard on drinking what I have, and not overbuying in the coming years, I may get down to 90 cases by then.
