When I was in college more than 30 years ago, I opened my campus mailbox to find a manila envelope folded inside it from my eccentric but wonderful aunt. I opened it and to my surprise found a slice of bread wrapped in cling wrap and a note explaining that she had sent a slice from a panettone to everyone in the family. It was kind of stale from its trip via U.S. Mail from California to Virginia, but I suppose it’s the thought that counts.
