Looks like the X Novo folks are moving forward to launch their own winery. Have loved the Walter Scott wines and am excited to see what Craig Williams and his family do with their own bottlings. Given his track record I suspect these wines will be amazing. Here is the annoucement from their social pages:
We are extremely proud to announce and bring to you our very own inaugural vintage - 2019 Chardonnay from our X Omni Vineyard. We have been working hard to develop our vineyard into a winery and we canāt wait to share our wines with you. ā
ā
The 2019 Chardonnay will be offered to our waiting list this coming fall.ā
ā
For those of you in the Willamette Valley - you can be the first to try our Chardonnay at @oktaoregon restaurant!
Visit our new website - xnovo.com - to be the first to sign up for this new release and to receive updates on our winery and future allocations. ā

Cheers!ā
Iām more interested in price, assuming 100% of production cannot be filled thru an Estate label. Walter Scott has pushed my comfort zoneā¦the curse of being an early adopter and over-40.
If Iām not mistaken, 2013 was the first vintage of Walter Scott X-Novo Chardonnay. I have a few bottles remaining as well. Opened one at a bottle share earlier this year that seemed a little tired or off. Thereās another bottle share this week, so maybe try againā¦
Interestingā¦X Novo is what got me to fall in love with Walter Scott wines, as it was with many of you, and I enjoyed Craigās participation in the Walter Scott Covid zoom session as well. Maybe I should check out the wine when at IPNC in a couple weeksā¦
Interesting project! I suspect that Ken ( Pahlow) at Walter Scott has some āspecial sauce,ā given the merits of La Combe Verte. But some sort of comparison will definitely be warranted and fun to do when these wines become available.
A very belated thank you for the kind remarks regarding our forthcoming release. The process of launching a website, during the harvest, along with the obligatory details associated with wine has been challenging. Nonetheless, if you are interested in receiving more information, please join our mailing list at xnovo.com.
A brief bit of info. Our estate vineyards, X Novo and X Omni, are located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. While we continue to sell fruit to our valued wineries, we began production of a small amount of wine beginning in 2019 and have continued since, excepting 2020, at a renovated barn on our property. We are honored to be involved in the amazing Oregon winegrowing community with hopes our vineyards will further augment this incredible region.
Hi - what is the relationship between Walter Scott and X-Novo? Ive bought a bit of WS over the years (also gifting it to many foreign winemakers as a good example of āAmericanā wine).
Thank you for sharing the Walter Scott X Novo with your friends/associates! X Novo is the name of our company and the first vineyard we planted in 2010. The name is a derivation of ex novo, meaning from beginning or anew; a reference to our new beginnings in Oregon after a 34 year winegrowing focus in the Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast. Walter Scott was one of the first wineries interested in our new vineyard. It has been a great alliance and we feel very fortunate to be associated with them.
One would hope it would sell at a discount to Walter Scott given the fame of the vineyard could mostly be attributed to their wines, but seeing all these inaugural release prices has me thinking itās unlikely. Folks are launching their first vintage at or higher to their purported peers.
Does anybody know who the winemaker is for the X novo project? If it has come up before, I donāt recall and a quick search didnāt find anything. Wonder if @Craig_Williams and family are making the wine in addition to running the vineyard.
