Proof that I am not a nice person at heart. A lovely woman at work who knows of my interest in wine (I have given her a few bottles over the years) bought me a bottle of this wine for the holidays. A search shows that it is a fizzy red, but it doesn’t have a sparkling closure. Anyone know what I have?
That’s a fantasic frizzante Malvasia Rossa that will rock a plate of salty cheese, smoked nuts and some hard salami. Serve chilled.

Eric, Malvasia Rossa (or Rosa or Nera depending on very local dialect choice) is the GRAPE, Malvasia di Casorzo d’Asti is the DOC.

Roberto can confirm this, but I’d guess this is just slightly fizzy and thus the closure doesn’t have to deal with a lot of pressure.
