As mentioned far downthread, I am thrilled to see such a high response rate this year. As I said, we ended up wtih 937 total entries.
For benchmarking, last year (out of 520 or so) the 1988 D’Yquem was first-place with 4 votes. 5 other wines received 3 votes each. In terms of house references, D’Yquem had 12, Selosse 10 and Mugnier and Keller 8 each.
Let’s trundle on to 2024
A repeat winner, the 2001 D’Yquem sits as the WOTY with 6 total votes. Right behind it with 5 votes is the 2006 Krug Clos du Mesnil and then Selosse Initial (various disgorgements) and the 2013 Cristal shared the show position with 4 votes each. A passle of other wines came in with 3, including some fun surprises.

Goodfellow – 8
Huet – 12 (with I believe the widest range, from 1919 to 2010)
Keller – 10

Ulysse Collin – 10

Some other stuff…
Well, PYCM and Salon were both a little lower than I’d expected with 7 each. As happens, not that many Calicabs. No Bryant, No Abreu, No Kapscandy. Only one Rivers-Marie. And in the non-Cab part of things, no Kongsgaard, no Littorai of any stripe, one Marcassin. Ridge did OK with 7 mentions
A real surprise. Only one Latour. Interesting! Only one Egon Muller. No Angelus. 4 Prums and 3 Donnhoffs, which are both lower numbers than I might have thought. And Supertuscans didn’t show up—zero Masseto, zero Tig, zero Sassicaia. Only a couple of Juge and Allemand. Only one La-La. And one Vega. Only one port. And only one Dom mention
It was fun to see Cecile Tremblay with a strong 6-vote showing. Ditto Goodfellow on a strong showing and nice to see a couple mentions of Extradimensional Wine Co Yeah! Yay Larry and Tercero as well.
Last comment. Ruchottes Chambertin is something a lot of people got to talk about this time. I think the vineyard ended up with 11 (between Rousseau and M-G)
But more than anything, the spectrum of wines listed was far and away the widest I’ve ever seen. It’s super-energizing to see the diversity in our community. On to 2025!

Hey—no sassing. I waited all the way till the beginning of November!
As always, feel free to jump on with your respective lists. This has already been an excellent year for me (although not yet with any true soul-drenching-standout) and that’s without the major road trip in a couple of weeks. I expect there to be a number of additions. We’ll see if anything displaces the Prager.
I haven’t had my Discovery of the Year, but I’m sure I will this coming Sunday. That’s when I’ll be at a dinner at which a 1715 Madeira will be opened. I feel privileged and very fortunate to get to try. Edit—Yup. The 1715 Terrantez Madeira is DEFINITELY the DOTY
As usual, I have provided a score only where my tasting note on the wine prompted that extra level of “description”. Also as usual, I will do the tabulations in the first week of January. Also, if there are any other WOTY threads already started (e.g. halfway-through-the-year), please feel free to link them so that I can add any wines in those threads to the tabulations. Thanks all!
