Wow

I really can’t believe the power of WS.

The question is “the power over what?”

I’ll make someone a deal on nine bottles from my stash.

so awesome!

Didn’t I tell you to sell those last week?

Indeed you did…

Wow, indeed. You have got to be joking! [swoon.gif]

That wine has a toilet bowl factor of 5+

“Columbia Crest. Ya…you’ll crest the bowl if you slug this shizzle down! Gonna give this the Huggie-Bear-Bowl Factor 5+ for our boyz over at Berzerkerland.”

Oh God…
I missed out! [cry.gif]

Unbelievable

I recall Guigal CDP 99 going for big bucks shortly after it got WOTY.

I also recall seeing it selling on Winebid earlier this year at something in the $30ish range. Cinq Cepages was another one that did that.

Some of the early flippers of the 01 Paloma got some prices in the mid 200’s.

That is just retarded.

how weird, the WOTY last year would barely go over $100 and it cost 2x the price of this years. Guess people like American products :stuck_out_tongue:

This always happens with the WS WOTY. Prices shoot up immediately, find a level for about six months to a year and then begin their retreat over time to the appropiate level. After many years it may be worth an extra five to ten percent.

Ian, you are correct about the 96 Cinq Cepages. I just picked up some for under $50. That’s almost half the price it was selling for once it became wine of the year.

Cash in quickly.

Jeff, I agree. Happens every year. Some years margin is higher than others but pretty much happens every year.

The price jump is strongly dependent on the production. Low production means low availability means a larger jump can be charged to the people who gotta have it.

I recall getting grey market offers for 2005 Clos Apalta in the $140 range shortly after WOTY last year. Just insane.

Honestly, what was the last WOTY that actually lived up to its hype???
