Wow! 2013 RM Summa Old Vines PN

Last night I opened a 2013 Rivers-Marie Summa Old Vines PN. What a wonderful wine. No decant, just poured some glasses, gave it a swirl and a sip and said, “Whoa, that’s a good wine.” It had an intoxicating bouquet of raspberry, orange peel, incense and clove that opened up even more over time, a perfect weight and balance after ten years in the bottle and a long finish that inspired a demand for more. My experienced tasting companion commented of the wine, “So many good things going on!” This is the best RM Summa Old Vines I’ve had since the 2007, which was one of my favorite bottles of California pinot noir. It should hold for a while longer but it is surely good to drink now.
