OK Beserkers … what do you do with your empty OWCs? Collecting them is fun, but after a while they can overwhelm you. How many of you keep all of them? How many sell them? How many make furniture out of them? Any other interesting ideas/uses?
I’ve nailed some box ends to my doors and walls in my cellar. After that - fire starters.
Great to start a fire in the fireplace.
Check this out. This site sells wood cases for $35 to $150

Crazy!!!
And they are empty!!!
How much will they pay me for mine. I cannot get myself to throw out wooden crates, but also have never done anything with them. So, as others have said, they are fire starters.
What would they be worth filed with generic wine and nailed tightly shut?
+1 ,beats running to the store 20 miles away
I sell mine to a man with a strange German accent…Harley, Harvey…no I think he said his name was Hardy?
Manhattan roof garden planters.
Depends, would they be sold by Garagiste?
We use them for wine display in the store, they are 4 boxes high and Randy built them at a slant so the bottles display but still angled so the corks stay wet.
Some of the other things we use them for. Under plants, file folders, misc storage for shoes.
The flat 6 pk boxes are great for rolls of ribbon, you could build a frame w/slides and use them like extra drawers or pantry bins with the taller 6 OWC.
My dog’s food bowl is elevated atop a case of 2002 DRC Echezeaux. My wife uses some shallow 6 pack boxes to organize the pantry. Easily pulled out to get things in the back of the shelves.
My favorites are BRDX 24 x 375ml boxes I’ve got a bunch and use them for all kinds of storage.
I store wine in mine.
I keep my sauternes (halves) in wood (from halves, not necessarily the same bottles). But if I have enough, I recycle the rest.
If you are talking about typical Bordeaux type 12s or 6s boxes, then I like reusing them for wines that didn’t come in wood because they seem to stack very nicely to 9-10 high without instability like cardboard.
If you are talking about the oversized speciality boxes from the likes of Schrader or SQN, then I am not really sure…though I like the boxes far too much to throw them away at least for now.
I use a topless Gruaud Larose six-pack case as a decorative bin for rolls of extra toilet paper in one of my bathrooms.
In addition to displays, they are great for bird houses, drawers and special projects:
My OWCs of 07 CdP Mags are bronzed and saved for posterity.
I just burn them; great kindling.
