WineSpies.com (Wine Spies) Deal Discussion thread

Mica 2020 at 55 might be a decent deal. I had one some months ago and did not feel tainted. But it would be nice to hear any expert their take on it.

Did anyone snag any Hidden Ridge? I got 2; the 55% cabs were sold out by 9:20.

I see they have 2020 Grand Napa Oakville up now. I just drank a 2018 and loved it - quite a bit of oak, but it was a style I liked. It reminded me of a Rioja in some ways. But 2020… thats a different beast. I assume oakville was impacted by fires?

Black Bird Vineyards?

Boom! :boom: The name the Oracle is rooted is Greek mythology.

Good slouthing. Tech sheet says released in 2022, but no reviews in CT or Vivino.

Anyone had this? Thoughts at $75 + shipping?

Looks like miner oracle 2018 is here for $70

Yeah, and I see it elsewhere for $99, so not the best deal at $75, but I snagged one for fun and to round out a case.

FWIW, I popped one of these last night, and I thought it was shockingly worthy of its heady CT scores – delicious, classically styled Napa cab.

I’ve had mixed success with Wine Spies, but in this case I bought four and wish I’d bought a case.

You want more wine? Just email Agent Brut and ask if they still have the wine that you want in stock! He’ll sell it to you right then and there. Insider tip, and you’re welcome.

If the wine is The Oracle, The Wine Stop has this at 69.9… and there goes again, winespies letting us down… again.

If it is the Oracle, what’s the thing with the “undisclosed”?

To prove that I’m not trolling: https://www.thewinestop.com/2018-miner-family-the-oracle-napa-valley-bordeaux-blend.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqGsBCIxJZTK0pmZLHiX2pQctz8HF3odzFlZr5XX9NS4zYhGPke

Don’t focus on the undisclosed. 100% of the other clues line up with The Oracle, including the winemaker (Gary Brookman), his resume, the grape mix, vineyards and the oak and aging.

And the title - Diviner.

My point is that an everyday store is selling it at a lower price and not hiding the name. Wines Spies is just playing their marketing games, it just seems like is getting worse I think I’m about to not even bother looking at them for wine I might miss a deal here or there but not very many

In case you guys weren’t aware of this, WS now allows you to hold your locker being shipped for up to 2 months. Today, I just arranged to ship my full locker on 4/21. For me, this free storage allows me time to catch up on my drinking and make room in the cellar.

Wow, I shipped a locker just two weeks ago and I set it two weeks out thinking that was still the rule. I like the extra time too. Thanks!

I didn’t see any annoucement about this shipping change; just happened to notice that more dates were black rather than greyed out.

I’m going to have to say that this 2014 Vagabond Syrah that In currently up is a great deal at $24. Kirk Venge, Caldwell Vyd, 10 years of age. Giddy up!

Can you expand on your thoughts? I brushed it off and didnt read about it too closely, but you have me intruiged.

I have only ever had a Cabernet from Bacio Divino, so I have not had this Syrah. The Cabernet is good, not worth their inflated $180 price, but darn good for the $65 that it was offered for today. I’m on a strict buying restriction, but snuck one bottle of Cab into my locker today.

As for the Syrah, Kirk Venge is a top winemaker in Napa, Caldwell is a very good Vineyard in Coombsville, this wine got 100% very good new French oak, which would make it a BIG wine, but after 10 years of mellowing, I’m all in on a few bottles.

If I needed Syrah (which I do not), I might pull the trigger on a case of this.

You got me excited and i bought two. Thank you sir
