Wineries Near Pismo Beach

Are there any wineries near Pismo Beach CA worth a visit?

Thanks,

Tom

Talley, Laetitia, Saucelito Canyon

Absolutely. The two best in the area are Alban, which isn’t open to the public, and Talley. Talley is located about 4 miles east of Arroyo Grande, one of the “Five Cities” that are immediately adjacent, of which Pismo Beach is one. Talley has a great tasting room, so that one is easy.

Au Bon Climat, Foxen and Tantara are also located 20 to 30 minutes’ drive to the South. Au Bon Climat is hard to find, even with directions from Jim, and it’s only by appointment.

All of the wineries in Edna Valley are nearby too.

On the main drag of Pismo Beach is the Sans Liege tasting room - not a winery but their tasting room may be an option if you’re in the area.

Seversl tasting rooms in Avila Beach just a few miles away.

Sans Liege is a great choice. There is Alapay a few miles away in Avila Beach, which is a nice little winery which makes some unusual varietals (including Lagrein), nothing profound but a fun little visit.

Heading into the Edna Valley (just 5 miles inland or so), Saucelito Canyon makes good cool-weather zins. Chamisal Estate makes big-styled pinots, syrahs and chards that are good if you’re open to that style.

Of course, there is Paso Robles to the north. Almost the closest winery from Pismo is Turley, maybe 40 minutes or so, and they are making phenomenal wines these days.

Taste of the Valleys in now in Pismo

Also not a winery, but Taste of the Valleys Wine Bar has a lot of area wines and is a fun stop.

Up the road a bit from Talley is Kynsi. Very nice Pinots.

Count me another fan of Sans Liege

Eat at Giuseppe’s.
My favorite Pismo restaurant…

Not sure if you are staying there, but the lighthouse Inn is absolutely amazing to stay.
