I’m sure it’s an error - they will either state they are out or that they are installing a new shopping cart and had them mispriced.

Still, I took two of each - maybe I’ll get lucky.

They just sent out an e-mail with descriptors and posted BH notes touting this as a “Red Burgundy Blowout.” I don’t think it’s a mistake, but I could be wrong.

Not a bad price on the Griotte at $35 either. And maybe the best of all, $15 for 2005 Combe aux Moines (that one I’m a bit skeptical of).

Just called. Griotte is gone, the 1ers may still be in stock, they’ve had a huge response and are still sorting through the orders. The '05 Combe aux Moines on the web site @ $15 is also sold out.

Hmmm, I didn’t get Dee Vine’s email on these until this morning, and they were all sold out when I called. Those who got the email (and their orders in) earlier were definitely in luck. I’ve tasted most of these and they were a steal at that pricing.

I called at around 9:10. Got 5 btls each of '06 Combes and Lavaux (I hope). The '05 Combes was already sold out!

The odd bottle quantity is one of my buying methods. Typically I get one bottle to drink now (assess aging curve) and put 4 away.

this is pretty interesting from a social experiment POV.

for the past few years, i’ve really been trying to focus on high quality (whatever that means to me) and it’s usually at the expense of quantity (the wines i tend to consider high quality are expensive for me).

so this offer came in to my mailbox and i immediately ran to the phone, but then i realized – i don’t really like these wines. sure, i’ve had a few over the years that were fine and at least one that was bordering on profound (1996 gevrey combottes that is apparently truchot sourced and made), but the rest have either been terrible or just meh. i’m sure others enjoy them and while the burghound reviews themselves were not what i’m looking for, the scores were high. so the question for me was, will i enjoy these in the context of knowing that i paid almost nothing for them? and ultimately the answer was no. i mean, i wouldn’t buy run rig or astralis for $15 since i wouldn’t enjoy those either.

please don’t take this as pissing on someone’s parade. i hope these wines end up in the hands of people that will enjoy them and for those people, these are really stupid prices that i don’t think i’ve ever seen before. but it just got me thinking a bit.

am i alone?

No…your are not alone, I’m not a fan of the Leclerc wines, not even the late release wines. The are good, but nothing great, just not my style. As with you, I hope they will end up in the hands of drinkers, as i suspect they will. These are good prices for these wines, just not my thing.

I got the email just before I left for work and went through a similar thought process. Great price but I don’t need wine to drink and these aren’t wines I really want so I left them for folks who do. (Yeah my thoughts sort of run together without punctuation but I generally understand what I’m thinking)
