Wondering if anyone subscribes and could share their opinions on the behind the paywall content.
Would also be interested to hear more about the Bizot 2020 reviews too.
Thanks!

I’ve subscribed for many years. I think there is no even close that does as interesting job as it relates to vineyards and history. As far as grades go, I’m less interested. That said, I’m not terribly interested in anyone’s wines grades. I find it interesting enough to continue to subscribe, sometimes if someone is doing something cool I figure it is worth supporting.
I’m guessing if you sent him an email I wouldn’t be surprised if he gave you a trial look behind the curtain-but I have no idea what his policy is.
He has (or had) a subscription special for 79 Euro for 2 years, pretty good value for the amount of effort he puts into his write ups, I find him useful and honest in his approach to the wines
I love his deep dives into vineyards, and his takes on producers’ vintages. He’s also introduced me to some winemakers (Chantal Remy and Moron-Garcia, for instance) that I would never have heard of otherwise. His vins d’emotions rating is trippy, but I also kind of love it. It sort of makes sense to me - some wines are great but you don’t care about them; others might be lesser, rationally, but you still get emotionally engaged. I’m happy to subscribe and support his eBike lifestyle.
I love this publication. Great information.
I’ve subscribed for 3-4 years and love it
Ditto, the hog is fun and nobody does the breakdown of vineyard parcels and ownership like he does. Unfortunately the geology maps overlaid on the vineyards are sometimes impossible to read (tiny print and confusing overlay). You have to love this guys passion for the place, he even moved there. His reviews are entertaining and honest and he does not just cover he usual big names. It seems his palate has a finely tuned preference for Norwegian cloudberries? Maybe Otto F can explain the reference for those of us who don’t run across these in our local grocery stores
Friends,
Just love WINEHOG. He was the first one to draw attention to domaines MILLOT, G NOELLAT, SIRUGUE and DUROCHE. Always on the look out for new names. He also was the first journalist to report on the spectacular LAMARCHE/LIGER BELAIR deal. He is more than any other journalist the new CLIVE COATES.
SINCERELY JOHAN
I am pretty Bill Nanson (who posts here) reported it first as a rumour in the Burgundy Report.
I’m a big fan of Steen and, of course he was the first to confirm, via LMLB about the Lamarche deal, but I did lay it all open - the local rumour - in July…
It means he comes from north of Sweden! Far north where the sun never comes up or down depending on the season (at certain points) cloudberries are know as the gold of the north. Arctic style. Quite rare and expensive to come by if you don’t go up north and pick it yourself (free to everyone)… it’s delicious.
I reckon the Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish taste just about the same but what do I know, have only tired the Swedish ones. For a Swedishish hog to refer to it as Norwegian, it might be a joke as well (a Swedish, a Dane and a Norwegian…)…
Sorry, can’t. We have enough cloudberries here in Finland so never have had need to get any Norwegian ones.
When it comes to cloudberries in general, describing how a cloudberry tastes like is pretty similar to describing how an apple or a gooseberry tastes like. They taste like apple or gooseberry. That’s probably as far as I can describe them.
Awesome!
Thanks for the insights everyone.
=)
Motivated me to re-subscribe! I’ve been putting off, next week, next week… 99 Euro for two years is decent value.
Thanks for all the kind words … will stop with the cloudberries for now.
I do like to hear the comments from all … and I do understand differences in views.
Hopefully we … the writers… provide a multitude of views and angles …
I think most writers understand if readers dont subscribe to all the writers … but find what suits them best. I am proud to be mentioned amongst these writers …
Cheers

Subscribing to Winehog makes me look smarter when I talk to people about burgundy cause of all I’ve learned from it!
In reality we hopefully have fun while we learn more about Burgundy. We will never know all, but the process towards comprehending how little we understand is hopefully a joyful journey.
Wine hog is great!
A very happy subscriber here! Steen is great. Knowledgeable, honest, and completely no nonsense.
