The last time I went to that total wine in Tempe (which has nice whiskey selection, btw) some ~40 year old lady was checking out with 30+ magnums of Santa margherita.

I was in Phoenix earlier this week and went to Tarbell’s, which isn’t too far from the airport. Some gems, but the prices were crazy ($215 for Egly Brut Grand Cru???). Honestly the people saying Total Wine are probably right.

I was joking. Dan is not a fan of TW

It’s not that near, but the best I could suggest is the Scottsdale Costco. 22 minutes, but a large selection. Costco Wholesale, 15255 Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260

You didn’t say how close, but this is 6 miles/15 minutes. I met Chris and Pat on a KL trip years back and haven’t been to the store (since I never go to PHX) but they definitely carry cool wines and are both really good people. And Chris is a music geek, too if that interests you.

It used to be great but its not even worth the drive even for locals now. Super sad

One can definitely do much better than that, ha!

I agree with @Dave_Nerland , Atlas is a really great option.

Also second @Marshall_Manning with far and away wines (actually came here to recommend it). Stopped in randomly the other day and was really impressed. Started BS’ing with the owner and he poured me a taste of Clos st. Hune! Pretty awesome!

If you’re doing Total Wine, the one at Camelback & 16th st is solid and not far from the airport.

Never been, Rich. Will have to check it out; thanks for the recco

I hadn’t either! Its in somewhat of a random strip mall but had to stop in while i was over there (i mean…its a wine store, ha!) And was pretty impressed! And as @Marshall_Manning mentioned, the owner was really cool!

The TW in Goodyear had Bedrock OVZ the last time I was visiting my brother. But that might be too far of a drive from the airport.

Nothing near the Phoenix airport. You need to get into Scottsdale.

Off topic, but OMG, that’s where I lived as a little kid; just north of Camelback off16th. Our house along with the entire neighborhood is gone as there’s a freeway running through there. Probably would not recognize the area at all now. There used to be a big mall on the south side of Camelback called the Sears-Rhodes Mall later renamed the Colonnade Mall.

Thats wild! Yep, the 51 runs right through there now! You’re right, probably unrecognizable at this point!

Thanks to all who helped! What a great resource, ask this board for help and it’s there in abundance.

I bet you were annoyed that she’d cleared them out.
