Wine Storage NYC

I thought I would resurrect this type of thread and see if there are any new thoughts or players here.

Looking for a place for around 25-50 cases, flexible access and not uber-expensive.

Who are you happy with?

thanks,

Scott

more importantly is the delivery to the upper west side.
i dont have to ever see it - just want flexible access (delivery) to it.

Manhattan Wine Company (http://www.mwcwine.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) is in NJ about 5-10 minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel. I use them and am very pleased.

Count me as a happy Acker fan. Super service.

I use Chelsea Wine Storage for a personal locker and Winecare for open storage and have been happy with both.

I’ll tangent a little bit. I am pleased with Vinfolio’s storage service but they do not ship to NJ or PA so I’m considering moving my wines to a facility in South Jersey (Princeton and South is South Jersey, I think). Anyone have anything in that area? I’m not sure NYC or North Jersey is that much better than Vinfolio, although I’ll look into some of those options. Again, to Steve and his crew at Vinfolio, and for anyone considering using them, the service is top notch. The problem now is that my wine is basically held hostage there except for the few times a year when a friend visits his family in New York.

I use New York Fine Wine Storage. They’re owned by Zachy’s. I don’t know how they compare to the others price-wise, but it’s convenient because anything I buy from Zachy’s (which is not that much but occasionally) or from a Zachy’s auction (ditto), can go straight into storage without having to pay for any shipping.

I’ve had long term stuff at NY Wine Storage in Long Island City, just over the 59th Street bridge, since 1993 and have have great service. That’s $1.40 a case/month.

For mid-term stuff, I have a 20-case locker at Chelsea, which works out to $3 per case/month or so. I wouldn’t want to pay that much for all my wine.

The best of all is my friend Andy’s cellar in Westchester – free storage and delivery!

I use them as well as their shipping address is NY, and I can have wines shipped there that won’t ship to NJ. Steve referred me to them last year, and I couldn’t be any more grateful! Still haven’t made a trip up there yet, but I have a dozen or so cases sitting up there hiding…and there should be some '07 Sea Smoke arriving this week as well. Great service so far, and no problems at all! Thanks again Steve! -mJ

winecellarage in the Bronx. Very satisfied. They store the wine that Christie’s auction house sells.

Count me as a happy customer of Chelsea Wine Storage.

I second that. Absolutely incredible service.

My last facility which was average, you just dumped the cases and got access to them. It was cold, it was damp and they did not lose anything, but that is about it. I changed not because I was dissatified, but River Valley was local. What I ended up getting was incredible service and also some added benfits.
River Valley will not only inventory your wine, but will alert you if there is a problem. If you buy anything from auction, this is incredibly valuable, as you have an unbroken chain of custody.

Last year, this saved me a few thousand dollars on a case of leaking Lafites.

Bump for River Valley Wine Cellars!

16 years, pretty good bump
