Austin vs. Cupertino? Here’s my recommendation: Stay in Austin.
OK. I will take your recommendation, but where do I store my wine?
There is a place called Vault 55 downtown which is located beneath the Brown Building. Heard good things, but I don’t store wine there. Supposed to be a really cool place.
Should be able to google info.
Vault 55 is a good place. Be prepared to be flabbergasted by the cost of controlled storage here, though. Lots of demand, not much supply yet.
There are a few choices depending on how and where (location in town)you want to store it. Vault 55 is downtown and very nice but like an actual wine cellar with racks etc., biometric entry.
There are other options for more bulk storage. Google “wine storage Austin” for map locations.

At various times I’ve stored wine in both of the locations above and was satisfied with the security and storage conditions. It will probably be more expensive than you are used to with offsite storage in CA. PM if you want more details. Good luck with your move.
I currently use Vault 55 for offsite storage. I like it, but, as Peter noted, it ain’t cheap. The Vault 55 website is here: http://www.vault55.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
I have not used either of the spots mentioned by Shannon, but used to store my wine at a mini-storage operation on Burnet Road in North Central Austin. It used to be affiliated with the one on 5th Street that Shannon mentioned. I liked it fine from a security/temp. control perspective. It was much less convenient, however. The mini-storage places tend to be just a locker to stuff wine in – hard to find stuff when you store it that way. Vault 55 also provides racking. While Vault 55 is more expensive, its not that much more expensive.
