My charming wife is spending the next few days in Perth on business. She’s offered to pick up a couple bottles of local juice.
Any shop recommendations?
Looking for AFWE Western Aussie offerings and a meaningful conversation at the shop…to confirm the selection. Looks like the majority of wines are Chards and Cabs with perhaps some Shiraz and Riesling, preferably something to be consumed relatively young.

Sorry Richard, couldn’t resist. Sounds like an awesome trip.
I’m no Margaret River expert, but I did enjoy Cullen’s Diana Madeline. Maybe not a drink soon wine though.
Hope you are well, and get on out here for some winter cycling.
Best,
Todd
It’s been a while but I would suggest:-
la Vigna - Michael Tamburi would know more than anyone about West Australian wines. http://thethousands.com.au/perth/shop/la-vigna/
Steve’s at Nedlands - drop in for a brew while you are there - the Sunday sessions are legendary.
have a great trip - it’s a lovely city.
La Vigna definitely
The Re Store on Oxford st in Leederville
The Vintage Cellars on Nicholson rd in Shenton Park has a great backroom with old and rares.
The Wine Store on George St, East Fremantle
Any of those 4 will have some great juice for you guys
edit: If she finds herself in Cottesloe at all over this weekend, tell her to drop by the Vintage Cellars there and ask for Justin. I’ll make sure she has some great stuff to bring back
Thanks guys. Wish I was there, but someone has to hold down the fort.
La Vigna sounds perfect and thanks for the back-up options. She’s doing some sort of group cycling thing Sat AM and an afternoon visit to Fremantle. Cottesloe seems pretty close so I’ll suggest a visit, thanks Justin.
Todd, hope everything is great in AZ. We’ll be headed your way mid-Feb and look forward to you guiding us up the snow-less Mt Lemmon route.

My wife just returned from an excellent trip. Who knew Perth was so cycling crazy? Dozens of large group rides on weekend mornings. She rented a bike and joined in.
The report on La Vigna was excellent. Michael Tamburi’s daughter (who reportedly has a better palate!), very ably assisted in identifying some local selections:
2011 Cherubino Laissez Faire Syrah - Porongurup
2010 Batista Pinot Noir - Warren Valley
2010 Woodlands Heather Jean Cabernet Sauvignon - Wilyabrup Valley
Reportedly you won’t find these too far beyond Australia. Thanks for the great advice.

Some nice selections Richard. I really have loved the wines that I have seen from Woodlands in particular.
