I don’t expect Chambers St. Somewhere with Drouhin, Jadot Burgundies and some Bordeaux and Rhones would suffice.
Thanks.

Its been a long time since I was there but the Costco had some good selections of 2000 Bordeaux on release. From my notes, I also looked here and found stuff to drink, but not worth bringing home:
Wine Merchant, 27 E Main St # C, 406-587-2702, 10:00 to 6:00
Montana Spirits & Wine, 615 N 7th Ave 406-586-8000
Wine Gallery, 102 S 19th Ave # 4, 406-586-8828
If you are driving through Billings, City Vineyard has a pretty good selection.
Do NOT mean to hijack this thread but I was born and raised in Bozeman, although I live in Denver now. What brings you to Bozeman, Nathan?
Probably the Rocking R Bar.
Whenever I’m back home in Montana, I’ve found some good stuff at the Island Liquor Store at 1225 Custer in Helena. I realize that’s a bit of a schlep from Bozeman, but good stuff with people who actually know wine. Picked up some great Buccella at Christmas at less than mailing list prices.
In Bozeman, Montana Spirits and Wine has a good selection.
On the off chance you’re heading up to Big Sky, the Hungry Moose also has a very nice selection, with some hard to find items.
I don’t recall pricing for either…
To Bob Wood: I guess you didn’t hear about this?

Not sure if the good old R bar is back up and running yet.
I will second The Wine Gallery as they seem to have a pretty good selection of wines, including some hard to find gems (especially for a small town) like Carlisle and the likes. It does gravitate toward new world wines but they do have some frenchies, as it sounds that is more up your alley. They are also seem to know their stuff.
I remember buying some 00 Beaucastel and Spieglau stems at the PanHandler on that walking area in downtown Helena. Not much wine, but a ncie selection.
Damn, no I hadn’t heard. Of course, the last time I was in the R was 1985.
My folks live in Missoula and one of my brothers lives in Livingston. Heading to Moonlight/Big Sky for the weekend to snowboard and have some good family time for my birthday.
Never would have guessed Bozeman. Wish I knew the town better.
On the way to Moonlight/Big Sky. Will need to be a drive by. Thanks for the advice.
Why not stop at Worden’s in Missoula?
It’s been many years for me but I recall an excellent selection.
Worden’s is a nice shop with a good selection, but I don’t recall that it’s very deep in Burgs, Rhones, or Bordeaux. Wine shops have to stock what sells to the locals, and Worden’s helps push the envelope, but mostly with American wines and value imports.

There is the secret stash in the basement, but I’m flying into Bozeman. My dad will bring wine from Missoula, but he is more Bordeaux/Napa and I was looking to pick up things to fill in the gaps. But I have found good Bordeaux (Chevalier, Cantermerle, Beausejour-Duffau) at reasonable prices in Livingston.
I did buy some Montana wine there. It wasn’t too bad but I don’t think the grapes were actually grown in montana IIRC (I think Idaho).
The only Montana winery whose wines I’ve tried is Mission Mountain. They make wine with grapes from Washington and Idaho, but also vineyards in Montana around Flathead Lake (riesling, gewurz, pinot grigio, and I think a pinot noir).

There’s a pretty good wine shop off of Main between the Mall and Montana State. Wine Gallery, I think it’s called.
call divit at the boise wine coop and have him send stuff over!
Jim,
As echoed above, I second the Wine Gallery for both their selection and knowledge.
