I’ll be driving through Atlanta tomorrow and would like to find a good place to pick up some nice bottles. Any recommendations?

Ansley Kroger
(close to Ansley Wine Merchants)
If you will be in Atlanta proper (and not just the 'burbs), I recommend Ansley Wine Merchants for France (esp. Alsace, Burgundy, and Champagne), Spain, Germany, and for their (in)famous “El Cheapo but El Goodo” section of QPRs. I would recommend Wine Gallery + Market for boutique American (only place I know in Atlanta that stocks Red Car, Linne Calodo, and Flowers). Finally, if its a trophy you want, either Sherlocks’s Wine Merchants or (believe it or not) the Ansley Mall Kroger.
Just remember, no alcohol sales on Sunday in GA… Thanks, Gov. Perdue!
I’d second the recommendations above.
But I do believe Wine Gallery + Market is closed for renovations (John Liotta may chime in to confirm).
To the list, I’d add:
Cellar 13
3765 Roswell Rd in Buckhead
John Passman, the owner, is a great guy. Small shop with specialty in Italian and French
Atlantic Wine
3906 Roswell Rd (there are 2 with similar name, but not related IIRC, and I’m not a huge fan of the other)
Patrick has a nice selection across the board and this is less then half a mile north of Cellar 13
Good catch – I think WG+M is still closed… my apologies.
BTW, Tyler, if you are shopping between 10-5 Saturday and decide to check out Ansley, ask them about their Saturday Specials. They feature some great (and sometimes unusual) wines weekly.
Can vouch for Cellar 13. Smaller, but nice selection.
Thanks guys. Looks like we’ll be staying at the Doubletree in North Druid Hills tonight actually. Ansley’s looks pretty close. I’m mainly interested in red Burgs and lighter new world pinots. I seem to remember Joe Davis saying someone in Atlanta brought in a lot of Arcadian. Anyone know who that would be?
The closest place to where you are staying is Green’s on Buford Hwy, less than 1.5 miles. Good shop. Ask for Michael Bishop.
In addition to Green’s there’s Toco Giant at 2941 N Druid Hills Road. Don’t judge this place by its outside appearance.
If you want Arcadian try Ansley Kroger, and don’t forget to check out their close-out shelves.
That Kroger is UNREAL! Picked up some '05 Sleepy Hollow Chard on closeout a well as some '07 Janasse And P. Usseglio CdR. Then went down the street to Ansley Wine Merchant and got some '07 Savigny and Chorey Burgs.
Thanks for the recs guys.
I know of a few good strip clubs if you need a good recommendation. Nothing says dirty south like some good vino and a lap dance!

I agree with the above statement. Toco Giant doesn’t look like much from the outside, but they have an impressive selection of wine.
