I’m renovating a house with a basement wine cellar in the plans. We’re going with a mini-split + coolbot to save some money, but I’m finding it difficult to source wine racks that aren’t well over budget. I built a small passive cellar a decade ago and outfitted it with basic racks from wineracksamerica. I’d like something similar, but everything I’ve found for this 10x6 space is $10k+, especially with stain. Is this just the new reality? I swear it wasn’t anywhere near this costly on my first cellar. Any recommendations? I’m looking for racks that are not purely functional, but look nice as well. Thanks! - Mike
When I built my new wine room, I got 9 of these, each holds 75 bottles, $75 per. They screw into the wall, I’m completely pleased.
Facebook Marketplace. Every 3 or 4 months I see someone selling a full cellars worth of racking
Webstaurantstore has a bunch
Michael, do you happen to be close to WI? I used WineStackers and was very happy with the experience and product, and it was more cost-effective than some other options I looked into. I’m in the Twin Cities so he was able to deliver and install himself. Not sure if shipping is an option for a full cellar, if you are beyond easy driving distance, but could be worth checking into.
Michael, I’m not sure where you’re located but you should take a shot at Craigslist, I’ve seen quite a few people that have bought houses with an existing cellar they had no use for that have either given away for free or at minimal cost, and crunch the numbers on how far to expand your search area to suit your needs. Best of luck.

I used the same racks as Dan for my current wine room. Best value/functionality I could fine and totally happy. I ran stringers screwed into the wall studs, and then screwed the racks into the stringers. Very secure.
My only advice is to be wary of inexpensive wooden or bamboo racks from large big box stores like Home Depot or non-specialty online retailers like Amazon. The prices can be good, but many struggle to fit Burgundy and Champagne shaped bottles. Guess how I know…
To be fair, that can be an issue with high-end wine cabinets as well if you don’t do your due diligence
I have these as well, maybe about 700 spaces. Very happy. The end slots on the sides can be a struggle to fit wider bottles/can scratch labels.
That’s correct, something to be aware when you load them the first time.
I now automatically put skinny bottles on the sides, thanks for alerting everybody.
