Wine list divided by calories causes consternation

Does anyone really care about the calories in a bottle of wine when going out to dinner? Never heard or met someone who said “let’s not have wine with dinner because of the calories.” If i’m going to a steakhouse for dinner, calories are usually on the bottom of my list of worries that evening.

Thoughts?

Kind of shows that a simple printed list is rather old-fashioned. Given we’re in the era of AI becoming more mainstream, it feels a little old-fashioned that we don’t even use a search/filter facility when dining… and thus for those people so focused on calorific intake, they might very much appreciate a filter function.

All that said, I remain firmly ‘analogue’ in many aspects of life, and how many of us would delight in being asked to sit in front of a real fire, with an extensive wine list, and given as long as we want to choose something.

I do that almost every night, albeit in my own living room!

Anyone with any taste wouldn’t be there for dinner anyway! The reheated packaged items are about as good as what that statement suggests.

I highly doubt anyone there has ever ordered a wine based on its taste or intrigue, so at least calories might give them something to talk about.

Morton’s is a chain and it may be a legal requirement for restaurants with more than X locations in some states. Next they will tell you the cholesterol in the steak . . . which reminds me of the time that I was told to see a cardiologist for a stress test before commencing an exercise regimen. I went in, passed the test, and listened to him extol the virtues of a low salt, low cholesterol diet. The following week, I was walking into . . . Mortons . . . for dinner and out walks . . . the cardiologist.

That’s because the claim that steak is bad for cholesterol is bullshit.
