Wine-Hunter TJ's $2.99 2006 Red Burgundy

I don’t buy wine from Trader Joe’s but I had to run by and pick something up for my wife today and noticed the $2.99 “Hangtime” 2006 Pinot Noir, appellation Bourgogne.

Decided to pop one for lunch right after I got home. One thing I hate about cheap wines is they generally have a cloying sweetness and weird acidity. Well although this wine has lots of sweet fruit, the acidity works together with it to bring some balance. I’ll report back on my final thoughts but my very first impression is, for 2.99 … not terrible. I will probably grab more and keep around for a easy going glass or making some Beef Bourguignon.

Anybody else tried this?

Interesting find. I pretty much stopped looking at their wine selection when I’m there but for $2.99 and drinkable it could be a good wine for guests who know nothing about wine…

Sounds great. I should buy a case and fill in empty bottles of Haut Brion since that is what Scottsdale women always seem to want me to open when they walk through my cellar. headbang [help.gif]

Ok Victor, just calm down. [oops.gif]

Yeah … that is kind of my thought … although non wine geeks often drink $3 cabs/shiraz/merlots … and this will be very different. Might work well for those guests that want a white wine. Throw a little chill on it.

That’s a good idea Jack, what’s better, you’ll never tell the difference either! neener

Jack, how many women we talking about? 1 per year?
