wine glass carrier for 6 Riedel Vinum Pinot glasses

Just wondering…anyone know of a decent carrier that will hold 6 Riedel Vinum Pinot (Burgundy) stems? There are times when I go to tastings that I would need to bring 10-12 glasses, and it is hard to find a carrier for glasses of that size. The Riedel carrying case will only hold 3 Vinum Pinot glasses (4 of smaller glasses). I have a couple of Ravenscroft bags (“Ultimate Carrying Bag”) that hold 6 glasses each but the interior gives off a chemical smell that permeates the glasses in no time so they have to be rinsed again before using them. I have a canvas bag for holding 9 bottles of wine, and it fits 9 of the Riedel Vinum Chianti Classico glasses just fine, but too narrow for the Pinot glasses. I don’t care how padded it is…sure, padding is nice, but even an unpadded canvas bag with separate compartments would be fine. Any thoughts?

I think you brought about 20 glasses last night. How did you manage that?

I haven’t seen anything that specifically handles it. I have seen:

Dishwasher glass racks for burgundy/pinot glasses. Holds 12 burgundy/pinot glasses and slides into most commercial dish washers.

Plastic Milk crates.

Two six bottle and the occasional 12 bottle wine totes (with or without wheels and folding handle). Some have large enough slots for the glasses, but most only handle Bordeaux/Cab sizes.

We have a group of young wine makers who hold blind tastings at our store quarterly. Several work at wineries and bring glasses in dishwasher glass racks. I throw their racks and glasses into our dishwasher when they are done with their tastings. 2 minutes and they are done.

You drink Pinot, Rob?

I can squeeze 4 vinum burg stems in the riedel bag

For anything over 4 I use a 6 bottle wine tote. These are the ones you get at the winery and other retail shops.

John: Sleight of hand. Actually, i brought 9 burgs and 2 CC glasses using my two Ravenscroft carriers that give off a chemical smell…i left the covers of the carriers open durg travel to defuse the stink…worked ok but not ideal.

Rick: Yes, some pinot on occasion, when i am not chugging Brunello (inside joke).

Tyler: i have to try that Riedel bag again…i thought it was pretty tight to well nigh impossible to get four in, but i will give it another try. I have two nylon 6-bottle wine carriers (like wine reps carry) and i can get four glasses in each of those, so eight are easy to carry that way. But carrying anything over eight i haven’t figured out yet, except for the Ravenscroft stink bags. Those cardboard carriers are a Good idea…i am assuming the slots are wide enough for the Vinum Burg stems…if so, that may be the easiest answer…i just have to find some.

You would think someone would have figured this out by now and marketed something that screams ease and simplicity!

The soft six bottle totes that wineries give out also work, though sometimes you can only carry 4 glasses, dependent on construction.
