My wine cooler just crapped the bed, and with the thought of possibly getting one built in when we redo our kitchen in a couple years I want to get a smaller one in the mean time. I’m looking for 20-40 bottle fridge that could be freestanding. Any recommendations?
Apparently Pina Colada
my favorite, circa 1987.
UGH wine refrigerator then!
I was expecting a winecooler thread as well! Costco sells some smaller wine fridges; check their website.
I did. I’ve been searching a lot and it just seems like every fridge has a decent amount of bad reviews.
Just got a Wine Enthusiast 36 bottle unit from Costco. It’s only been running for 2 days now, so not much experience with it. It was under $200. But, it is much quieter than I anticipated, quiet enough to put in our living room. The racking does not allow for larger than very ordinary bottles, so you probably can’t put 36 bottle in it. The temp control seems to work pretty well, though there was at least one review that said the stated temp was 10F lower than the actual temp. I used an old-school thermometer to measure against the stated temp in our unit and it was pretty spot on.
I also have a 52-bottle Vinotemp that has been running in a hostile environment (my garage) continuously, without problems, since Oct. 2008 (I’m knocking on wood right now), but I wouldn’t recommend this firm because of their horrible beyond belief business practices (see another thread about this). Also, it is pretty loud.
