This morning we had the opportunity to taste six top Champagnes as a part of Wine & Chile Fiesta.
The six Champagnes were:
2000 Dom Perignon - harsh, yeasty, medium large bubbles, medium yellow gold in color
MV Krug - rich, complex flavors, yeasty, medium bubbles, rich color
'98 Dom Ruinart-bright, light color, citrusy, with small bubbles. the only 100% Chardonnay in the group
'98 La Grande Dame-soft, pleasant, yeasty, small light bubbles, medium yellow gold in color
'98 Grand Dame Rosé- rich, fruity, bright rose in color; lots of small bubbles;
'85 Veuve Cliquot Rare Vintage Rosé - rusty rose in color, some fruit flavor, medium bubbles, aggressive acidity.
The Krug and Grand Dame Rosé were my favorites of the tasting.
