Anyone have an experience with ordering from them? TIA

Do not confuse them with Wine Chateau in MO.

If you have access to Squires board there was a lengthy thread on them a while back. It’s one of those operations that is a virtual storefron that doesen’t actually stock much product and tries to order from the distributor after you order but charges you one you order. A friend had a nightmare trying to get a refund. Frankly, I thought they went out of business.

How did you hear about them? I think they were kicked off Wine Searcher.

I actually had solid experiences with them before I could get a good selection of Greek wine here. Their website model seems to be listing whatever they think their distributor has though so don’t assume what is on the site is in stock. They had an on-line chat function and I always confirmed they had access to the wine before ordering.

Wow, I guess I got lucky…only one order from them, 2000 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva Le Rocche. I would have been really PO’d if I would have gotten pimped on those…

After I didn’t find any deals on wine searcher, I just did a google search and they popped up. Something didn’t feel right, however.

I believe they’re one of those (seemingly all from New Jersey) whose business model is to list wines they don’t have at crazy good prices, lure you into placing an order, then contact you to say they can instead offer you something else which is typically inferior and more expensive.

You’ll order a 2000 Bordeaux which normally sells for $70 but listed there for $40, then they’ll come back after you order and say “I’m sorry, we don’t have that available, but we could sell you the 1999 for $45 or the 2002 for $50.” That sort of thing.

There are also a bunch of them right around my area. It’s funny when I see them listed on WS because I know them to be a little hole in the wall place that lives on selling Carlo Rossi and Yellow Tail.

They do have a couple of stores, been in one, just a run of the mill store, nothing special that I would go back for. The one in Piscataway, NJ does have a small climate controlled wine room. Would only order from them if I could pick up, which is 10 minutes away.

I’ve ordered from them in the past with no problems, but I guess it sounds like I got lucky? [shrug.gif]
