I’m looking for a couple of bars with a nice selection of wine by the glass, reasonable bottle prices, and maybe some food (small plates or otherwise) in this part of NYC.
Thanks for the feedback on Nougatine in my prior thread. Sadly, I’ve read many reviews where diners complained of excessively salted dishes. I’m not sure we’ll be trying that after all.
Not a wine bar but try the lounge at North Square. Perfectly located for you with an interesting snack/app menu and thoughtfully selected and reasonably priced wines by the glass. Reasonable corkage as well if you are so inclined.
No slander Mr. Kleban. Although it really is a bit of a hike on foot to Pata Negra from the area the OP inquired about. Approximately 25 minutes on foot.
Man, you walk slow now that you live in the 'burbs.
The rest of us can make it in 10-15 minutes on foot. One more block over from Pata Negra and you’re at Terroir. But 8th Street Wine Bar is pretty good too and a block from the area you’re in, as is Otto.
Wife and I don’t mind walking a lot. We tend to do that anyway when we’re in a city. So should we get ourselves over to Terroir? I guess I’ve opened things up, now.
Within a 5-30 minute walking distance you’ve got lots of choices, both East and West:
-8th Street Wine Bar
-Otto
-Pata Negra
-Terroir
-Ino (more of a sandwhich bar but good selection of wines)
-Turks & Frogs
-Blue Ribbon Wine Bar
-Ten Bells (AWESOME wine list, but that would be the 30 minute walk, unless you’re Jorge in which case it’s more like 75 minutes…)
-Anfora (never been but I’ve been told it’s nice)
