Going to be in Chicago this weekend and would love to hear recs for wine bars in the city. Sorry if this has been posted before, I did a quick search and found a bunch of restaurant threads for Chicago but none for wine bars
Le Midi in Wicker Park is great. Friendly owners with an eclectic wine selection with equally great food to pair. The weather in Chicago has been fantastic lately, which you can enjoy on their patio.
If you are willing to make the trek up to the suburbs, Knightsbridge Wine Shoppe in Northbrook started their Summer of Champagne series that takes place every Saturday. It’s free to attend. While not technically a wine bar (it’s a retail store), you will find like-minded people to drink some bubbly with.

Awesome, thank you
Used to live in Chicago so I’m still on the mailing list from the Magazine. Just got this about a new wine bar opening (and just blocks from where we used to live):
If you make you way over to Le Midi, you can do a lot of fun damage. Rootstock is about a 5-10 minute Uber from Division and Damen, Webster’s is up Milwaukee Ave, and if you just want something fun Mama Delia has excellent Spanish food and a great Portuguese+Spanish wine list.
I’d also highly recommend Cherry Circle Room in the Athletic Association and Pops For Champagne.
Pops had interesting stuff last time I was there; had some Marie courtin and 02 Cristal
These aren’t the droids you’re looking for….
I’m late here, but tossing our Soif in Logan Square. Designed like an old school French bar / speakeasy, it’s set in a moody and dark basement and has a fun list of French producers. Prices are about 2X retail, so not awful.
