Wine at Wegmans.

Anyone have positive/negative experiences with Wegmans, a large grocery chain in the Northeast, wines in terms of storage? The Wegmans in Northborough, MA has 2008 Leoville Barton at $50, 2006 Smith Haut Lafitte for $54, and some Remoissenet burgs (1969 Chambolle Musigny for $140, 2003 Grands Echezeaux for $85).

I pulled the trigger on a few, obviously without asking the question first!

Lots of familiarity as my ex runs a Wegmans wine shop. They blow out product, so storage isn’t really aN issue. When they get “major” wines, they have a 55 degree cooler they store those in. Prices are normally higher than elsewhere because they have a captive audience and that 1 stop shopping mentality is big. But they often score some great deals and often stock wines I don’t see anywhere else locally. Selling Montiano for $29. Selling Il Poggione Brunello for $55. Selling 2001 Balmoral for $38.

Some of their other prices can be silly. Ore no sells for $110. Bottle King sells it for $50.

Wine friendly. Owns Century Liquors in Rochester, NY.
