…is still about a month out, but they sent a very nice email today with a heads-up on what wines would be released and how much they would be. From a budgeting standpoint, I wish more producers would do this with their mailing list.
Doh…forgot to post the wines!
2009 Wind Gap, Trousseau Gris, Fannuchi-Wood Road Vineyard, RRV - $21.00
2008 Wind Gap, Chardonnay, ‘Yuen’, Central Coast - $36.00
2008 Wind Gap, Chardonnay, Sonoma County - $40.00
2008 Wind Gap, Pinot Gris, Windsor Oaks Vineyard, Chalk Hill - $32.00
2007 Wind Gap, Syrah, Sonoma Coast - $36.00
I was surprised to see the link to Falltacular in the email.
A mailer about a mailer… Wonder what their allocation system will be? ![]()
+1. Although it is one of the premier wine events in the country! ![]()
+1
Also think the Falltacular (and other charity events listed) info was a good idea.
I got the email too and I truly appreciate Pax not only providing Wind Gap wines for the event to be tasted but also an auction lot. I would correct his email blast to state that our event is NOT public, that unfortunately people cannot stop by and taste, unlike I assume the other 2 events he mentioned. I strictly manage Falltacular and we are 100% down with the ABC regs, which in part require me to know everyone that attends. There is no one permitted to come over or drop in. I just want to be clear on that point.
As for the Wind Gap wines, I am in for the mailer, too. ![]()
Are these prices a slight reduction? If so, smart move just doing it and not saying anything about it. I’m on for something, love how he is trying to do something really different.
Well I paid $45 for the 2006 Sonoma Coast Syrah at Pax’s inaugural open house, so if 20% is a slight reduction…
Between this and the Alesia Fairview, I’m starting to love where domestic syrah prices are headed.
i hope to buy the Gris wines and some 07 Syrah. see how the $$$ hold out.
Just take out another appendix.
from someone who is insured you mean.
Details.
taking out the appendix of an uninsured American doesn’t help me buy any Wind Gap as they are largely paying me $0 for that effort.
What about putting one back in?
that would be a cool trick. probably wouldn’t reimburse anymore dough though.
I’m new to their wines. They are offering the following. Any input would be great.
Thanks all,
Chris

The mailer just hit my inbox…dipping my toe in for a mixed case of the Gris and Syrah. My fear is that my wife will fall in love with one or both of the Gris’ and I will have to call Pax and beg for more.
Pax Mahle…used to co-own/be the winemaker for Pax wines…
however, apparently something happened with his partner…the ”money man” Joe Donelan
and they divorced…not happily…several years ago… though it appears Donelan owned the name Pax…because
he was still using it for awhile
The winery’s name has since changed to Donelan Family Wines…
I dont know if this was an agreed settlement of the lawsuit or if it is still going on…
and I dont know where Pax sourced his grapes and if his sources are different now or
are still the same.
anyhow…IMO Pax is a superb wine maker and his wife and himself are excellent people,
and their prices are fair…I particularly like his Syrahs
BTW, Donelan kept sending offering emails after Pax had left and he was still using the name
Pax Wine…so i wrote back and said…Pax without Pax ain‘t Pax…so take me off your list…
though I still get offerings from Donelan Family Wines
I’m holding out for is 08 SCM pinot release.
