Why Haven't I Heard Of This Before...A Bacon Tasting Bar

No, not a candy bar, but a bacon sampler bar at Press in St. Helena. Available on their bar menu. I’ll most definitely be going next trip to Napa.

I’ve had the two D’Artagnan’s and they are not surprising quite different.

Of course I’d order it - a no brainer!

20 mg? Take two, and enjoy!

Sounds great!

Last night we made crostini for our bar with a commercial Bacon / Sweet Onion confit and a sharp cheese laced with sage and the crowd went wild…

Bill, it has been on the menu there in the bar area for quite some time, at least in some form. At least 2 years, I think.

That figures. I have been in St. Helena a half dozen times in the past two years and have never even walked into Press. I won’t make the same mistake again.

hmmmm, MEAT CANDY!!!

I believe Bacon has jumped the shark. Goat is the new Pig.

Best idea ever! Pass the bacon please!

Press now has Flannery beef as well.

They have always had Flannery, just as has Dean & Deluca. They are just now openly advertising it.

I can’t get goat at most grocery stores. I can ALWAYS get bacon at the grocery store. Just sayin’…

We have a new restaurant just down the road the serves a goat burger along with several other goat entrees. The owners of the place raise the goats themselves. Part of the goats’ feed is our spent grain.

If so, jumping the shark has jumped the shark.

This is awesome. I’ll have to sit at the bar for appetizers when I head out there next month. Are they still doing wine specials on Wednesday nights?

Unfortunately my local organic goat farm, about 5 miles from here, seems to have gone downhill. Last racks bought seem to have been from an older animal, and I think they may be letting them live a bit longer for economic necessity reasons.

Count me in as a bog goat fan

(now don’t start me on the pretty boring “Beef Bacon” I encountered a few places in Cairo recently)

So…

If you bring your own bacon to a restaurant, do you have to pay…

Porkage?
