I think the perfect guy to assume the troll hat is Blake Brown. Closed-minded, divisive, polarizing, finds something bad to say about everything and everyone, delights in upsetting people.
A strategy for thinking clearly:
Rather than trying to be right, assume you are wrong and try to be less wrong.
Trying to be right has a tendency to devolve into protecting your beliefs.
Trying to be less wrong has a tendency to prompt more questions and intellectual humility.
LOL
Klapp is proof that Barolo causes RBF.
… These days he spends his time between Burgundy and Piedmont…
How does one spend time between places? Does he commute, or live in-between?
Klapp was knowledgeable, but always let you know he knew more than you, and was rich enough to retire in Piedmont and who could count on knowing all the winemakers there as his personal friends.
Klapp is proof that Barolo causes RBF.
Renal blood flow? Maybe I’ve been too hard on him.

+infinity! What’s his problem anyway?
There is, by the way, a huge difference between, for example:
“The wine made in the Loire Valley is weak insipid swill that tastes like free run juice from the overflow of the local outhouse”
and
“You, Counselor Alfert, are a complete and utter tasteless moron *sshole who has the palate of a yak because the only swill you ever drink is that free run outhouse stuff from the Loire Valley.”
Unfortunately, there are too many people who do not know the difference.
You are 100% correct, but I wouldn’t take either of those posts seriously. I can read Alfert’s posts(and do) to see that he’s smart, thoughtful person as well as a great advocate for those wines. And I can drink a Loire Valley wine and realize that the author of the more polite opinion is still not for me.
And as noted, I can read the 10posts following the polite one, or the 100 posts following responding to the jerky post, and find some real knowledge.
Superheroes benefit from villains. Alfert could be lost to us all just posting an occasional TN from Bourgueil, politely responded to by a couple of likeminded folks raised on scraps of bell pepper, olive pits, dirt, and mucking out horse stalls.

Wait. You’ve said the latter!
It’s my understanding that either one is appropriate when addressing a lawyer.
There are a lot people here who’s contributions I really enjoy. Some of these people I have met, and some I would like to meet. Some I feel like I know, even though I’ve never met them. I love this community, but sometimes it gets a little sleepy.
Bill Klapp and Alan Eden each had their own ways of pissing off people, but both kept things interesting at WB at the same time. Now that these guys are gone, who is going to step up and be the villain when things get a little slow here?
Rick’s mom.

Mods need to “un-ban” Cash Steele. Then we’d get some controversial dialogue flowing again.

How can you know what wines he likes and still think that though?

Reputedly he is a pretty brilliant lawyer - based on what he tells me - notwithstanding the drek that he drinks.

I’m pretty certain his wine preferences are his major redeeming quality.

I miss Bill Klapp’s posts. For the most part, I thought they were great, even–and maybe especially–when they weren’t about wine.
That would be nice, covering up his very slight receding hairline.
Has anyone ever seen Klapp and Trump at the same time?
If there is anyone on this Earth who is more than capable of defending himself, it is certainly Bill Klapp. But I simply have to say this might be the stupidest post in the history of this board. The differences are so great and so many, but I’ll stick with one which should be so obvious to anyone: It is well documented that Trump speaks and writes at about a 4th grade level. Even if you never liked a single one of Bill’s opinions, anyone with more education than that can see that his command of the English language is stunning. Sometimes I read his posts and emails just for the language, even if I totally disagree with the opinion being expressed.
Corey?
Only if he goes Orthodox:

That is quite a hairdo!
I bet all the girls riding on the same bus as him want to get with that.
