No Maison Ludo?
Flawed poll. Poll is missing. Also, #4 must be a mistake.
Never had d’Auvenay, but Coche’s MP is eyes-roll-into-the-back-of-head stuff.
Hard to disagree with. Would probably throw Domaine Henri Boillot, PYCM and Hubert Lamy into the mix.
henri boillot wines are thrilling
I also reckon Michel Niellon is special
Sauzet too!
Hard to say - and it is difficult comparing Chablis to a Cote de Beaune producer.
I would actually take Dauvissat and Raveneau (the two undisputed best in Chablis) out if the list and put in Sauzet and Boillot. Not sure I would put DRC in there either, as they only produce one wine.
In terms of consistency across a whole range of wines, I would vote for Leflaive and Coche-Dury as my two favourites. Hard to separate them.
+1 on Henri Boillot. Fantastic producer.
Niellon can be phenomenal when not pre-moxed.
People drink d’Auvenay and DRC? As in open a bottle over dinner with their spouse…
Ranking within a top ten seems to be futile.
Not sure it’s top 10, as I haven’t had any DRC or d’Auvenay, but Carillon makes damn good wines and has to be in the conversation.
I’d say with the producers that mostly produce whites…
Leflaive
Raveneau
Coche Dury
Carillon
Edit…wtf…can’t forget Roulot and Ramonet too!!
Why waste on a spouse
I vote for Chevalier Montrachet.
The list doesn’t make much sense to me - is Pierre Morey there because he made great Leflaives or because Domaine Pierre Morey is currently great (ignoring pox problems, the '06 Charmes the other day was lovely, but only that; much less serious than the Boillot Charmes). Are Verget (presumably) there because their wines are better than DRC Montrachet or because the Macon is decent? Leaving out the unobtaniums, and focusing on producers who predominantly make whites, my list would be quite different, e.g.
So at the risk of looking like an a-hole, who is Guffens-Heynen and why would they be #4 on that list?
Coche, Boillot, Ramonet would be my top 3, then Raveneau and Roulot.
Leflaive way to inconsistent in recent years, and with too many pre mox issues…

Who produces the finest white wines of Burgundy?
Post #13 Postby Kevin Harvey » Tue Dec 09, 2014 8:47 pm
I vote for Chevalier Montrachet.
Rhys Vineyards
Who is this Chevalier Montrachet guy?? Does Kermit sell his wines?? Martine??
How many points did Parker give him?? And who knighted him anyway?? Jim Knight?? Ted Knight??
Cannot be Gladys Knight…then they would never get the pips out of the wine.
I think ramonet premox issues are even worse than Leflaive tho.
I think the list is not bad . Agree with d’Auvenay and Coche as the 2 best ones .
’ Most missing " in this list is Carillon .
Guffens-Heynen btw is not Verget ( his negotant business ) . JM Guffens and his wife make fantastic Macon’s , that can age well .
Boillot , Leflaive , Ramonet , Lafon …major premox culprits
