Who Makes The Best DOMESTIC PN You've Ever Had. ONLY NAME 1

Aubert.

Rhys.

Dave, I have 1 blt each of the '04 Home, Family Farm and Alpine PNs plus a Chard too. Lets do an 04 RHYS horizontal.

There’s several from the Santa Cruz Mountains that are quite special but I’m going to go with Talley.

Easy. Williams Selyem - Burt Williams wines ONLY!

You opened the Mt. Eden which is my favorite CA pinot to date. Though I agree with you that with age certain of the Rhys pinots will quite possibly surpass it. Look forward to finding out in 10 years or so.

Nobody else is even close.

Hirsch Vineyards San Andreas 2007, Sonoma Coast. God that is an amazing wine and depicts perfectly what my idea of a great domestic PN should be.

Marcassin Marcassin vineyard

Williams-Selyem…1992 Allen Vineyard from magnum in the summer of 2008.
As I check CT, Williams-Selyem is #1 in bottles owned as well as consumption.

The best domestic Pinot I’ve ever tasted was a 12 or so year old Dehlinger Estate.

I’ve always believed that well aged Dehlinger Pinot was California’s equivalent of the speed of light - they could be approached, but never exceeded.

I can say with confidence, however, that there are deadly serious assult teams, led by Copain and Rhys in the Anderson Valley and Santa Cruz Mts., that are actively engaged in challenging my beliefs.

In my limited experience, Rochioli.

Thanks,

Too many great experiences to pick just one “best”. Based on cellar weighting: Cameron

Answering the title question, “Who makes the best domestic PN you’ve ever had?”

Chalone- 1978 out of mag

Who makes the best domestic PN to my palate?
Littorai? Tough call on a few… Still trying to find the ones I love.

Marcassin.

Best Domestic Pinot I’ve ever had is thanks to you; 2002 Kistler Pinot Noir Cuvée Catherine Kistler Vineyard - 2/17/2008 rated 97 points: Excellent nose of cherry, spice, and hints of barnyard. Very smooth and elegant upon tasting with a lingering finish. The more I think about it, the more I’m inclined to say it’s one of the best Pinot’s I’ve had. With that said I think it was slightly restrained and in a couple years will be close to a perfect wine.
