I love Turley Hayne Vineyard, Biale Royal Punishers, and anything from Palisades Vineyard. However, my all time favorite Petite Sirah’s are from Carver Sutro!!
I like what Graeme is doing with the Petite at Palisades Canyon
I’ll second Anton’s rec of Retro Cellars. Terrific stuff. I ordered from them a couple times, years ago, but somehow never received an email offer from them when new wines were released. Sadly, that made it easy for them to drop off my radar and I haven’t bought any bottles in several years now.
We like Aaron in Paso Robles. He makes 100% Petite Sirah, and blends it as well.
I know that he started off concentrating on the variety, but he’s branched out quite a bit. I’m not tried as wines for a while, but I’ll be up there in a few weeks and plan on stopping in and trying a few.
Yes, excellent wines.
Now we’re talking my friend - helluva pull!! Can’t wait to hear about it (have a 73 in the cellar so very excited to hear about this one!)
And happy early Bday!! I’ve got a killer birth-year wine ready to rock the next time you’re in town ![]()

Give it another 20 years.
Ah, a thread made for me!
The big names have been listed, I’ll give another shout out to Aaron in Paso. Also in Paso…Venteux: They have a sourced Adelaida that is very solid, and an Estate dry-farmed that I have yet to try but really want to. Brecon: Their bottle is pretty pricey, more typical big presence, needs laying down, but I think will be a 10+ aged beauty.
Also, our very own @larry_schaffer has an epic 2013 Petite Sirah available at the tasting room that I just bought this past weekend. And it took him a decade, but he’s finally doing another release. I have nothing but incredible things to say - the 2023 release is one of the most immediately drinkable PS bottles I’ve had. It’s predominantly leaner and acid forward but still has the hallmarks of the varietal. Buy both!!
Turley
Mending Wall
Titus
Quixote
Dusi

Don’t kill me, but for $9/bottle Bogle and McMannis are really good.
Boyle has always been a good value for PS.
Thanks for a great visit, my friend! I’m indebted to Kevin for sending you over and it was a blast talking with you and Melissa about tons of stuff. And glad you were able to taste through a bunch of samples of wines that I’m bottling up this Friday - including our 2023 PS from the Nolan Vineyard in Los Alamos. My guess is that, though it is approachable now, it’s gonna blossom with some bottle time!
Cheers
I’m surprised Cline doesn’t make one as that price range is their wheelhouse. Maybe a couple bucks more.
I used to buy McMannis from K&L on the cheap!
Vincent Arroyo petite sirah is my house red wine. It’s a big crowd pleaser when we have family gatherings. Sometimes, I even pay my cleaning lady with it.
I’ve said this before but Bogle PS punches way above its weight class. When my tasting group has done PS Bogle has shown well. Not the top wine on the table but far from the last. Also, I sell Bogle wines.
For a moment I thought it said Trump ![]()
Was about to suggest moving the comment to the Epstein thread.
