Who are you, and what do you sell?

I work for the Fred Meyer grocery chain at the Tualatin store. I get to sell most of the big brands like Yellow Tail, Franzia, etc. But that also allows me to sell Lewelling, Clos des Papes, and Ata Rangi. My favorite areas are Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Pinot Noir. I have the best job in my store. I have been at my store for about 18 years. Before that, it was 15 years in restaurants.

Hey Michael! I’ve stopped in your wine section many times, and whenever anyone says they found a good wine at Freddy’s, I know they mean your location. Great to have you here!

I am the Associate Director of Fine and Rare Wines at Bonhams and Butterfields Auctioneers. I sell whatever the consignors happen to have that isn’t plonk.

Who’s my daddy? Bob Davids, owner of Sea Smoke Cellars.

Does selling wine out of the cellar door count?

Mark Ricca and I am a manager for Joe Canal’s Discount Liquor Outlet in Iselin,NJ. We are striving to sell Burgundy and such to Zach Lang in Boston…

My name is Michael Alberty and I own a retail wine store, Storyteller Wine Company, in Portland, Oregon. About 90-95% of our sales are to folks across the country via our electronic newsletter. But we do keep a few things laying around the office floor just in case Steve McCall drops by on his way home from work. We work mostly with Old World and Pacific NW wines.

It would simplify Steve’s commute home if you also kept a small supply of lemons, limes, garlic, baguettes, and Pellegrino.

We do most of our biz over email, however, we built an incredible new store last year, so if you are near White Plains, NY, I highly recommend seeing it.

Our daily email is devoted to making fun of many people including wine critics, like Jay Miller, which has recently made things more interesting in world of wine.

Besides selling fine and rare wine, also own a small Pinot Noir Vineyard in Carneros! Do not make a wine, just sell the fruit . . .

I’m a partner in an import/distribution business specializing in Italian wines.

I love to sell Italians but we have a better selection of Bordeaux, other French, and Californian. I’m currently having fun raiding our warehouse and finding back vintages of wine geeky wines.

Jeff, do you have a brick and mortar store in Albq? I went to High School and College in Albuquerque and my folks still live there.

It is only the web page right now. http://www.gourmet-delights.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I do allow local pickup from my offices both in ABQ and Santa Fe for people to meet me and to get their stuff.

One day I might open a brick/mortar place but the low overhead structure of e-commerce only via the web allows me to keep my prices low and beat out anyone else.

We’re growing in sales week over week which is nice to see. And we accept suggestions for new products. Have something you love and want to know if I can get it for you cheaper? Just let me know. So far, knock on wood, I’ve been able to beat any advertised price on any non-perishable item.

If you are ever in ABQ let me know and we’ll pop a cork or 3.

Welcome, Matt. While I do scores for myself, just so I know how ‘much’ I liked something, I pay zero attention to scores as well when I buy, so I appreciate that outlook.
