2010 Domaine Dublere Savigny 1er Cru ‘Vergelesses’ – Fresh mineral aromas with surprising and welcome hints of both flowers and pineapple. The palate offers white fruit notes, notably bartlett pear and macintosh apple. The texture is rich but well balanced, there are yeasty echoes of Meursault to go with flowers reminiscent of Puligny but a nicely vivid minerality that speaks of the white Burgundies from north of Meursault. This is lovely and balanced, offering excellent focus and precision with no hint of premox, but seemingly well developed and ready to drink. Rated 92 – 93.
2008 Domaine Albert Grivault Meursault [from 375ml] – Classic aromas feature rome apple, steel, flowers and a hint of fresh-baked bread. The palate is reasonably full with a reprise of the apples (maybe one of them was baked?), a touch of rainier cherry, more than a touch of bready yeasty notes, with fresh vivid acidity that might slightly overbalance the texture. This lacks the precision and finesse of the previous but is still notably fine and could improve a point or two in a few years. In 750 I would hold. Rated 90 tonight.
