Which Berserkers have taught you the most?

I find myself really wanting to focus on the positives of WB today.

A post in another thread got me thinking about all of the Berserkers that have really educated me on wine over the 10+ years that I’ve been on WB - most of them don’t know who I am, but I think of them as hidden mentors really.

In no particular order, here are 12 people who have influenced my wine knowledge over the years in a very significant way:
@Mark_Golodetz
@Robert_Dentice
@Marcus_Goodfellow
@William_Kelley
@Brad_Baker
@Sarah_Kirschbaum
@TomHill
@Mel_Knox
@Frank_Murray_III
@Rich_Brown
@David_Bu3ker
@Otto_Forsberg

A big heartfelt thanks to all of you.

There are tons of others, but those are some off the top of my head. And here I’m just counting what I’ve learned specifically here on the board, not IRL or through other media, otherwise for sure folks like Levi Dalton, Hardy Wallace, Morgan Twain Peterson, etc would be at the top.

Who are the Berserkers that have taught you the most over the years?

100%. That was a mental slip. He’s absolutely on there. Although sometimes I’m traumatized by the amount of the info he conveys!! :joy:

Lol, yeah, one is amazed!

Btw, after I posted I then saw his name listed (Otto) and tried to delete my post, but you saw it before it got deleted.

Yup…I read & learn from everything Otto posts. I sometimes have to take several days to absorb his posts, but I always learn something from them.

There are too many to recall.
Off the top of my head, some that come to mind:

Ray Tuppatsch
Brad Baker
Lars Carlberg
William Kelley

Pretty good list. Probably about the same list just would reorder it.

Thank you Vince, for pausing to say this. I’m honored you would list my name. I’m glad my sharing has had an impact positively for you.

We march on, together!

There’s so many…I’d have to think about it. But your list is a good start. I’d add @Edward_H_Earles to the list…he’s a fountain of gardening knowledge.

Great list! I’ve no quarrel with anyone cited. I’d add @Jeremy_Holmes for wine (and food); @Neal.Mollen and @Terry_H_a_r_r_i_s for legal; and all of my comrades in the cesspool.

Agree with everyone mentioned. He says it is a yak palate, but I always appreciate @Robert.A.Jr posts. @MChang does a good job on many of the areas I’m passionate about that I’ve learned a fair share from. @David_Bu3ker has many of my favorite wine posts, and have recently learned from him that not everything is better in 20 years and to drink up. @Jim_Anderson deserves a shoutout that I have not seen mentioned.

Honored to be mentioned!

I have learned a lot here from many people!

A few would include @Brad_England, @Jeremy_Holmes, @Jonathan_Favre, @Ray.Tuppa_sch (RIP), @Alex_Valdes, @CFu, and @William_Kelley among many others!

I learned a lot from a wide group of users on here. So much knowledge going around!
So instead of singling out people I just want to say thank you all.

From a wine influence point of view, it is probably @Robert_Dentice for restarting my riesling interest and @Robert.A.Jr for starting my cabernet franc fascination.

Hands down FMIII for me as my wine journey and palate have followed the same path and I always know that I will enjoy a wine that Frank likes. I really am not financially equipped to explore but following Franks notes I can rest assured that I will not be disappointed in a blind purchase.

This also applies to Buek to a degree though I never branched out into Riesling.

Thanks guys!

I would like to thank @CFu for his generosity, humor and willingness to call them as he sees them.

He semi-rightly gets teased for his caviar peddling, ‘gram influencer ways. But he has done more to create fellowship and bonhomie among LA crew than anyone else I know.

He knows everybody but he treats everyone like they are someone!

Plus he has thankless task of moderating all the petty grievances and entitled egos on this board! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Good call out on Alfert for his Loire knowledge. Also @Julian_Marshall and @Chris_Kissack on that front.

Thanks Vince, that’s very kind of you. I’m a latecomer myself to Loire reds. @Robert.A.Jr has been inspiring for me too, and of course @Chris_Kissack, who for me is the real expert on all things Loire.

I’d nominate @Rick_Allen @Marcus_Goodfellow @Richard_T_r_i_m_p_i @Jim_Anderson (and others who no longer are around like Ron Felthoven) for their views on Willamette Valley wines.

And @Robert.A.Jr for his Loire and Beaujolais takes, and for helping me realize that consistent training is for suckers and that I don’t need to spend outrageous amounts of money on thin, carbon bike saddles when any old used couch will do the trick.
