I need to get a keg (from BevMo) for an outdoor party in San Diego and I’m looking for something that is easy to drink and will please a crowd. I don’t want anything that screams hops, bitterness ,etc.
Of the below beers, which nails it?
Dos Equis
Ballast Point Yellowtail
Sierra Nevada Summer Fest
Karl Strauss Endless Summer Light
… of those 4, I’ve only had the Dos Equis, and I assume you know what that stuff is like.
Yea, XX is probably the safest choice.
These beers were recommended by BevMo. I’ve had summer brews before that were too fruity, hoppy, etc. and the whole goal here is to serve a beer with unquestionable general appeal.
This is kind of where I am with it. I think there is some talk here of the SN Summer Fest being good but if its a non-beer geek crowd then I would go with the least challenging in some respect. A richer fruitier beer might just piss people off.
I just had the SN Summer Fest a week or so ago, and it was easy to drink and pretty one note. Nothing wrong with it at all, but nothing stands out to me. So if “easy” is all you are looking for, this certainly fits the bill.
Thanks guys, appreciate the insight!
I have a golden rule re parties: They will drink what you give them!
I very much enjoy Dos Equis - though I started drinking it with a lime, and still do. Habit.
The Karl Strauss Endless Summer is very innocuous as well.
SNPA Summerfest would probably be my last choice on the list.
Though I think Roberto has the right idea here… you come to my party and drink my booze, you get what I’m serving.
Totally agree; however, there are other forces in the planning department that I have to deal with too! ![hithead [dash1.gif]](/uploads/db3686/original/2X/4/419b32ffe31ad6b2f9b831e5805986129c20f02d.gif)
