Which bdx?

01 HB
82 Lynch Bages
95 HB

And go?

95 HB. I have no reference but sounds like it would be fun!

To drink today? Probably 01 HB. Had an 01LMHB at French Laundry last month, and it was sublime.

To have/hold/cellar … 95 HB.

To drink today (well next week). I definitely don’t need more wine for the cellar.

82 Lynch Bages, the Haut Brions will last a lot longer and the 1982s are all fully mature and ready

I had an 82 LB 9 years ago and it was alright. It was my first 82 BDX, but wasn’t mind blowing. Maybe now it’s more in the zone.

82 LB will be perfect.
Save the HB for awhile longer

I have had the LB many times. It is a very good wine, but not a great wine. I have not had the the Hb but I would go with the 95.

82 Lynch for sure, the other two are just too young with little or hardly any tertiary aromas.

I’ve had 01 HB twice and it’s very good. HB is pretty much my favorite wine though.

I wouldn’t hesitate to go with 1982 Lynch-Bages. It’s in a great spot today, with an hour decant. While I prefer '89 and '85, it is a superb LB when it has been well stored. One of the problems with the 1982 vintage today is that so many of the wines have travelled so much. But I bought some bottles of this from a cold Alsatian cellar where they have been stored since release, and they have all been very youthful.

I have not had the 95 HB, so cannot comment on it. Both the 82 LB and 01 HB are excellent wines and you would enjoy either one. Of course, neither one is going anywhere bad, so there is no need to rush for either one.

I have had a good bit of experience with the 1982 LB over the years. In fact, I recently had the final bottle of my stash of 82 LB. I split a case of the 1982 LB with a friend in 1983 for $140 a case. We had bought a bunch of other 1982s and when we saw prices going up rapidly, bought the LB even though what we paid for it was a substantial increase over what it would have cost a few months earlier. Pretty consistently quite nice. I will say, however, that the one time I had the 82 together with the 1970 LB, the 1970 was the better wine.

I might just go with the 82; I got it from Benchmark so there’s a provenance guarantee.

95 HB was excellent, albeit perhaps not quite transcendent, when I had it back in June. Decanted 2+ hours. Certainly ready to drink, though it may improve further.

For today, 82 Lynch Bages. It’s all full peak, or a bit past it’s peak, but it’s an outstanding wine.

I’m more than a bit surprised about some comments on 82 LMHB. I think it’s an extraordinary wine.

Had a 01 HB last weekend and it was good but was still young. 82 LB would be the vote for today for sure.

Agree; my 01 HB experience is 2 years old but I remember thinking then that it needed a whole lot more age to realise anything like to its full potential
