Where to stay in Logroño? (and Bilbao)

4 of us are heading to Rioja in September and will do a week-ish each in Logroño and Bilbao/San Sebastian, with a day trip here and there (Haro, Laguardia). My cup overfloweth with winery recommendations here but I didn’t see anything for Logroño. I’d say 3-4 star level if that’s even a thing anymore. We like some creature comforts and a hotel bar is nice, and a relaxing place to sit before dinner and enjoy a bottle, but I don’t need someone making the bed every time I get out of it. Can anyone recommend places?

ps - of course I reached out to LdH and they said “probably not” since it’s harvest. Fingers crossed though.

In 2019, I was with a group of importers from the US and stayed in Logrono for a couple of nights at the Hotel Ciudad de Logrono. I just checked their website and they are listed as 3 Stars. It was very clean, efficient and well located. Wherever you stay, may I suggest that you ask the front desk at the hotel to direct you to the “pinchos district” (my term) full of pinchos bars, all within easy walking distance (especially return!). I recall 2 in particular, Blanco y Negro, and Paganos, taken there by a local. Also, I hope Hacienda El Ternero in Miranda del Ebro is on your list of places to visit. Safe travels!
