I will be in Barcelona for the first time for a few days in late May/early June and am trying to figure out where to stay in the city to really best experience it. Mind you, I am NOT looking for anything touristy but still want to be able to really explore the city, on foot if possible. So a Times Square-like location would be very, very bad.
And of course, any hotel/affordable tapas bar recommendations would be really appreciated.
Merci!
Cheers!
I’m sorry I did not see this sooner. If it’s not too late, I will ask one of my regular drinking buddies for good places for you to stay. If you could give me more specifics on what you are looking for, I can be of more help. My friend grew up in Barcelona, lived there for 20 years and goes home there at least twice a year. He’s actually there right now, so I can easily contact him for you.
Let me know what sights, type of accommodations, food, experiences, etc. you are looking for. The more details I have, the better.
Coincidentally, I am hoping to be in that area in early June as well, schedule permitting.
I am actually renting an apartment in Eixample, on Valencia Street, but I’ve never been so I am looking forward to exploring the city. I will buy a SIM card and have a Spanish mobile number and am there from the 1st to the 5th of June. It would be a pleasure to meet up!
