Monday is National Oyster Day. What is your favorite wine to pair with those bivalves?
white burgundy
weird month for it according to the old saying about months with “r”s
(I assume the origination of that is more due to refrigeration during summer, but never researched it. Could also be due to warmer water temps and bacterial contamination, etc)
Aligoté or Muscadet and preferably plenty of it.
whites that are steely, stony, and citrusy with oysters that are briny
Albarino
Champagne, always champagne.
Cristal for sure. Or Salon when available
Chablis and Champagne, because one bottle is never enough.
Chenin Blanc
Picpoul or Clairette
Cheers
Responses all over the place. Either people are just thinking of their favorite white wines, or they are thinking of different oysters/oyster preparations!
My favorite pairing is a good time, but perhaps that’s obvious…
Bone dry blancs de blancs Champagne of course.
White Bordeaux.
On the half shell, Muscadet and Sancerre
Chablis, Champagne and ice cold vodka
Muscadet, Chablis, or Champagne. Always open to something snappy.
Depends how the oysters are prepared. Rockefeller, raw on the half-shell, and deep fried all kinda need a different dance partner.
Well, Champagne obviously goes with all of them.
My favorite champagnes to pair with oysters are BDB, so taittinger cdc, salon, Krug cdm, RdJ HL, etc.
For normal people: Pepiere Muscadet Briords
